Sagittarius:

The Sign of Expansion of Knowledge and Hope for the Future:

This is the season of Lights; the celebrations of Hanukkah and Christmas – representing victory and salvation. It is a time that would remind us of prophecies from holy books and written in the constellation of stars — that after the darkness comes the light; the “Lion shall lie down with the Lamb”; that someday, there shall be “no more war.”

All this religious mythology and its seemingly overly optimistic view of human nature often generate a skeptical response since history rarely aligns itself with these “visions of sugar plums” and, instead, presents us with bombed and burned-out cities, angry protests, online death threats, and images of psychopathic heads of state on the TV news. It would seem to many of us that we are witnessing the “end times” and the promise of a new age of enlightenment is barely visible beyond the horizon.

Tribal wars that are enlisting help from nations with weapons of mass destruction are on a killing spree. Individuals in our country are posting hate messages online and attacking people in schools, synagogues, shopping malls, and hospitals in an angry spree of suicide and murderous hate. A case could be made that the root of so much of this is a collapse — of reliable governance, solid families, effective public education, and attentive parenting, the source of which lies in huge historical economic inequalities. Hate begets hate and would, sadly, leave many people no reason to live at all. This is reflected in recent elections producing far-right leaders in Argentina and The Netherlands, both having run on an anti-immigrant platform.

Jupiter, the planet that “rules” Sagittarius is currently in the sign of Taurus — a sign that governs land, property, financial assets, and the natural world – earth’s abundance out of which life springs. Thus, who “owns” the land, commands the nation’s boundaries, and controls the world’s natural resources needs to come to the surface and be recognized, for they are the true “rulers” of prosperity and whether it is hoarded among the very few, or shared with compassion among the many. The examination of “ownership” and who has control over it has formed the basis of personal wealth, political parties, and national identities for centuries.

The current billionaire class of people who we already know have financed political campaigns has recently been exposed for gifting money and thereby influencing the Supreme Court and its Justices. Thus, last month, the Court adopted a “code of ethics’ that nobody takes seriously since there is no law or entity to enforce it. Sad, indeed! Recently, in a case that sought to exempt Trump from the ballot for president, a judge in Colorado ruled that, even though Trump instituted an insurrection to overthrow the government, his particular oath of office exempts presidents. This will go to the Colorado Supreme Court and maybe even to the Federal Supreme Court. Could we even believe that the future allows presidents to ignore the vote, overthrow the government, and, thus, become a dictator, ending democracy as we know it? Trump, a former billionaire himself, knows how to manipulate the legal system to his advantage since he has spent most of his life doing it.

Past History? Clue – it rhymes!

An even more significant planet is Uranus (disruption, chaos, invention, and breakthroughs) also currently transiting in Taurus. The last time this took place – the 1930s — coincided with the Great Depression and the rise of the Third Reich including the holocaust in Germany which included the Axis powers that resulted in WWII. Jewish immigrants were fleeing Germany and were turned away in the US. The US entered the war as Uranus transited into Gemini, returning to its natal position, and led the way to victory by 1945. The atomic bomb was dropped on Japan by the US, leading the way to the development of nuclear energy and the advent of the Cold War with the Soviet Union.

With Putin’s invasion of Ukraine — and the attack of Hamas on Israel resulting in a war that is decimating Palestine, along with Donald Trump’s promise to get rid of “the vermin” (immigrants and those who oppose him), it would remind us of Hitler’s promise to rid Germany of the Jewish population. Mass shootings of both Jews and Muslims are taking place in the US. Less reported is the recent genocidal war in the Sudan, murdering thousands of civilians. History rhymes!

Recently there was a gathering of Arab and Muslim leaders in Riyadh, consisting of 57 heads of state, to condemn Israel for “war crimes including, ironically, Syria’s leader, mass murderer, Bashar al Assad. Since Iran has attacked US military locations in the region and is in another “proxy war” with the US and its allies, it would seem the Israeli-Palestinian conflict threatens to engulf the entire region. The Biden administration has worked through Qatar and Egypt, to make successful negotiations to release Israeli and US hostages along with a halt in the bombing of Palestine. With Mercury going retrograde and trine Jupiter this month, there may be more deals made with some resumption of the war, and some halting the war. Ultimately, Hamas will lose. Israel will change their governance. The Palestinians will be devastated. What does it all accomplish? Things may be clarified by January.

Interestingly, this month’s New Moon at 21 degrees of Sagittarius is described in Goldsmith’s “Sabian Degrees” as: “In an oral examination, a rabbinical student and his professor pull down their glasses in an angry face-off, the student arguing from Scripture and the professor arguing from personal experience.” Is all this about a “war of religions or control of regions?” It is all about control of wealth, land, resources, and human minds.

Is this the beginning of World War III? Certainly, this month’s Mars transit in Sagittarius would suggest the conflicts spreading. There may be a tendency to try to negotiate an end to some of these conflicts in January when Mars (war) is sextile Saturn (stability.)

Please note: Mercury goes retrograde on Dec. 12 and goes direct on January 2. Postpone the signing of important documents or start new projects until January. Spend time editing and correcting. The Winter Solstice Chart on Dec. 21st has some very hopeful aspects.

US Politics:

Frontrunner Donald Trump continues to openly reveal that he will violate the Constitution and the rule of law, effectively ending Democracy in America. He has already stated he would fire the joint chiefs. He has stated he would arrest his enemies and opponents. He has threatened a judge and his staff involved with the civil suit concerning fraud against him in New York, in which he has already been convicted. His supporters seem to be fine with a dictator in charge, leaving the American people with essentially no governance or rule of law.

As an astrologer, I look at planetary configurations to tell the tale. Neptune is inconjunct his Mars and Uranus will square his Mars next year, symbolizing losses and a destabilization of his efforts. The period between March and April is the biggest challenge to Trump, as Saturn advances in Pisces, square his Uranus and his North Node in Gemini. That same Saturn will inconjunct his previously fortunate Jupiter. There is an eclipse in Libra conjunct his Neptune. The Federal trial in Washington, DC, with Mark Meadows testifying, is likely to convict him of sedition remove him from the ballot, and produce a criminal conviction… The other trial that is likely to produce a conviction is the one in the State of Georgia against Trump’s attempt to throw the election there in 2020.

The Economy:

Mercury goes retrograde in Capricorn on Dec. 12 and goes direct in Sagittarius on Jan. 2. Markets look both good and bad, which means there are contradicting indicators. The rate of inflation is slowing, but most people, even though they may be employed, can’t afford cars, housing, and other big staples of the US economy. The housing market has declined. However, people have increased their purchases, both online and at the stores. Wall Street is mostly positive as stock markets continue to rise. Next year, I would see a mild recession which I will discuss in the January Newsletter.

Interestingly, in the Financial Times last month, an article was posted: “Wall Street and Beijing fight fallout of ransomware attack on China’s biggest bank, (ICBC) that disrupted trading in the $25 trillion market for US Treasuries.” China’s economy has seriously declined and they have been selling their US Treasuries, which affects prices in that market. Last month, Pres. Biden met with Premier Xi Jinping in California. It is of utmost importance that the two nations attempt to settle their disputes, both to avoid war and avoid financial crises. Both nations are engaging in massive spy networks on one another. If sanity prevails, they will come to some kind of agreement not to start a war.

Serious dark clouds are gathering around the solvency of the US dollar. The debt crisis looms. Congress keeps threatening to close down the government, but has an agreement, at this point, to kick the ball down the road into next year. The Trump-instituted tax breaks for the richest Americans end in 2024 which could help, but nobody is talking about this since Republicans want to cut the budget while Democrats want to tax the rich. The coming Saturn/Neptune conjunction in 2026 – a true dollar solvency crisis – will force their hand.

Science & Technology:

There was an online science post on October 30th reporting “The long trek toward practical fusion energy passed a milestone last week when the world’s newest and largest fusion reactor fired up. Japan’s JT-60SA uses magnetic fields from superconducting coils to contain a blazingly hot cloud of ionized gas, or plasma, within a doughnut-shaped vacuum vessel, in the hope of coaxing hydrogen nuclei to fuse and release energy.” It goes on to report that a plasma heated to 200 million degrees Celsius for about 100 seconds, is far longer than previous tokamaks. I will continue to report on the amazing progress of this technology which is moving faster than previously predicted.

In the October Issue of Scientific American, an article by Douglas Fox was published entitled “A Stratospheric Gamble” They report: “The effects of global warming have gotten so bad, so fast that some scientists say its time to start engineering the sky.” I have written about this subject based on my research in my books and newsletters for years. Back in Oct of 2012, I attended a conference of scientists in Massachusetts in which a “geo-engineer” from the federal government pitched the possibility of using 747s to dump silica into the atmosphere to simulate a global “cooling” that, in the past, has been created by volcanoes erupting. The audience of scientists, at that time, was appalled, saying that this could have unintended consequences of floods, droughts, etc, in locations that could kill crops. This article addresses the pluses and minuses and comes to no clear conclusion about this method of engineering climates. It is worth reading to familiarize ourselves with what is going on in this realm.

Last month, news was released over the media that through bio-genetic engineering, a cure for Sickle Cell Anemia has been discovered. This is a breakthrough in curing genetic-based diseases and is only the beginning as Pluto goes into Aquarius next year and will be in this sign until March of 2043. An age of scientific breakthroughs lies ahead of us, unequaled in human history.

Another loss of a great American:

Last month. Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter passed away at age 96, while former President Jimmy Carter remains in hospice care at age 99 years. Some of us would agree that she contributed in so many countless ways to mental health, caregiving, and Habitat-for-Humanity, and was a respected advisor to her husband in an era in which this was very rare. She set a tone and inspired ensuing first ladies to use their positions to be active and constructive. Some would make a case that the Carters were the last of the honest and sincere idealists who occupied the White House.

Iconic Statesman Passes:

Another landmark passing was that of Henry Kissinger, an iconic statesman, who opened up diplomatic relations with China under Pres. Richard Nixon 1972, spent decades as a consultant to U.S. presidents of both parties and just died at age 100 years. Controversial because of his association with the war in Vietnam, Kissinger remained an advisor to statesmen even in recent times.

Final Thoughts:

In “Tale of Two Cities” Charles Dickens famously wrote a description of his story revolving around the French Revolution “It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.” In his novel, “A Christmas Carol” his legendary character, Scrooge, highlights the same resounding theme of our societies today – power vs. humility — cruelty vs. compassion — greed vs. love. Many of us lament how little progress humans have made in this direction over the centuries. We go to our temples, churches, and mosques to pray that greater wisdom will prevail – that we may even save ourselves from ourselves. It would seem that our creator has sent us here to figure this out for ourselves. Very few leaders in human history have risen to this occasion, and more frequently than not, the greatest have been assassinated for their efforts.

Now is the time. The time has finally come. The birth of a new saving grace; the light that brings victory over our very own darkness; a wisdom that already exists as we open up our hearts and minds to all the constellations in he universe and its eternal promise of salvation.

May you celebrate the holidays with a transcendent hope and love rising in all your hearts!

Blessings,

Scorpio Versus Taurus – War of the Worlds:

The Sun moves through the Sign of Taurus in the Spring of the year (April 21 – May 20), linked with life emerging, flowering, reproducing, and sustaining itself. Seeds are planted, roots begin to establish themselves, blossoms pop up, bees begin to cross-pollinate, and animals often give birth to their young. In ancient times, wealth lay within this sign, often depending upon the number of cows owned by farmers; thus, Taurus is the Sign of the Bull. In modern times, the accumulation of wealth and prosperity and the term “Bull Market” emerged as Capitalism became the dominant economic system.

The Sun moving through the sign of Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 22) historically has been associated with Autumn and readiness for the coming Winter as leaves fall, and life seems to end on earth, leaving a barren landscape. The end of October presents us with Halloween and our spiritual need to have a confrontation with death and its ghosts. This is the “sign” that can deceive all the onlookers as life actually is “rooted” underground, protecting itself against the cold of Winter until it warms in the Spring. In ancient times, the power of nature and its constellations of seasons was seen as the ongoing cycle of death and rebirth. The ancient, powerful God, Pluto, ruled Scorpio and its underworld – the realm of those who had died on earth and were either extinguished or allowed to be reborn into a new life.

The Implications:

Life on earth is dependent upon Death on earth. Dying and decaying of the old forms creates the frameworks and supports for the emergence of new life in the Spring. In terms of the evolution of life, the old must die in order that something new may emerge – something that reaches upward in the Spring toward a hopefully higher, more expansive form of life.

This month, we will see more earthquakes, volcanoes, and climate disturbances as Taurus and Scorpio destabilize one another. An unusual hurricane may travel up the Atlantic Coast of the US.

It is not a good time to travel and it would be better to postpone your trips until the end of this month into December, when planets go into Sagittarius.

The Israel/Hamas War — An Enigma surrounded by complexities:

In previous newsletters, I predicted that, due to the transit of Uranus in Taurus through Israel’s astrological chart, they would be struggling to maintain their cohesion and their very existence.

The terrible war between the malignant terrorist organization Hamas (supported by Iran) and the State of Israel, killing and displacing Israelis and Palestinians alike, and involving the US is complex, horrific, and predictable. Hamas and its twin Hezbollah are not nation-states with whom diplomacy is possible. They are actually religious and ethnic cults fueled by historic and current hatreds. Their weapons, for decades, have been supplied by Iran and Russia.

Taurus is a sign of lands, boundaries, properties, and economies. The inequality of wealth is enormous and resources are scarce in these regions. The ongoing conflicts between Israel and the Palestinians that have remained unresolved for decades, feed these malicious terror organizations and give them support from many nations in the region who hate Israel. The fact that the Middle East has been a center of oil (Scorpio) production for over a century, has led to the forging of alliances between the West and nations that are run by royal families and/or dictators who avoid democracy as a system of governance.

The recently proposed peace deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia challenges Hamas. At the same time, Israelis have been engaged in a civil conflict, rebelling against the more autocratic rule of Benjamin Netanyahu, who has tried to limit the powers of their Supreme Court and sent the nation into an increasing cycle of instability. While his government has been in power, Israel has expanded its building projects into previously designated Palestinian territory, and it has done absolutely nothing to work toward supporting an independent Palestinian nation. Decades have passed since attempts to create an independent Palestinian state have failed. However, we need to point out that Hamas has, historically, for decades, prevented the Palestinian Authority (a weak government) from making deals of any sort with Israel.

Israel was blindsided by the Hamas invasion, demonstrating an ineptitude in Israel’s surveillance technologies. Hamas unleashed a terrible attack on Israel and captured hostages, a few of whom they have released. On top of all this, Israel’s chief ally, the US has been in a similar period of destabilization, has been extremely polarized politically, and more recently, its Congress struggled to elect a Speaker, suggesting weakness all around. For all these reasons, Hamas saw all this as a perfect time to strike.

Israel is bombing thousands of Palestinian citizens, many of whom are innocent, and destroying their infrastructure in a crude attempt to get at Hamas, who, we must remember, first attacked Israel and started this war. The news media is daily reporting on the mass destruction unleashed on innocent civilians in Gaza, moving more international public sentiment against the Israelis.

The US has moved military ships into the Gulf, in an attempt to keep this war from spreading throughout the region. All signs point back to Iran and its ally Russia, who are supplying arms to both Hamas and Hezbollah, another terror group that has taken over Lebanon since they are basically a failed state. Egypt and Jordan, who for decades, pledged not to attack Israel, are currently having talks with the US with regard to stabilizing the situation and attempting to work something out for innocent Palestinian refugees which they do not want migrating into their nations. I think Hamas will be forced to back down by the end of this month.

Iran:

Since this war broke out, the US has attacked Iranian cells in Syria, after Iran attacked US bases in the region. Everyone needs to be careful about their willingness to attack US warships in the Gulf. A stealth nation, Iran has been a sponsor of terrorists for decades and has been involved in a proxy war against Saudis in Yemen for years. We will likely see more Iranian strikes in this cycle, However, they do not want to engage the US directly, as it could escalate into a larger conflict they could not win.

The Overview:

Recent civil wars in the Middle East have resulted in multiple failed states. Attempts by the West to modify or control events in this region have failed. In addition, the region has had many serious earthquakes, floods, droughts, and climate catastrophes in recent years. As a result of all this, many of their economies have collapsed. This same region (The Fertile Crescent) is the ORIGIN AND BIRTHPLACE of most of the major civilizations and religions on Earth today. The war between Taurus and Scorpio – life and death – is upon us.

The War between Russia and the Ukraine:

The ongoing war between Russia, run by Vladimir Putin, a vicious dictator, and Ukraine, a struggling democracy has organized and renewed the NATO Alliance and involves a heavy financial and military investment from the US and its allies. Training of Ukrainians on the F-16s is going on now. This war is now getting less attention, but heavy fighting here is increasing.

Financing and permission for appointments and promotions in the US military need to be confirmed by a US legislature, which is paralyzed by infighting. Donald Trump’s previous “friendship” with Vladimir Putin and Trump’s current control over the Republicans may very well be behind their reluctance to continue funding the Ukraine war. Partisan struggles for funding (Taurus/Scorpio) will continue this month although US commitment to this war will hold.

China:

I have been forecasting China’s social and economic troubles in these newsletters for several years. They cannot pay their debts. They have been selling their US Treasury holdings. Capital wealth has been exiting the nation, leading to unemployment and a feeling of hopelessness in its young population. This nation, under Xi Jinping’s leadership, has returned to the old model of a Communist military dictatorship, whose expanding influence now lies in its escalating military power in the Pacific, threatening to take over Taiwan, and targeting the US and its Pacific allies. Opponents to his leadership in his cabinet have recently “disappeared”. There will be more upheavals in this nation this month.

Next year, Pluto goes into Aquarius, hitting the Ascendant and Moon in the Chart of China. There are two important messages about this. There may be an attempted rebellion within China to overthrow the present government. Thus, in an effort to distract its population from a possible revolution, there may be an increased motivation on the part of the present government to go to war over Taiwan.

The Biden administration needs to keep communication lines going between the US and China, which he attempted to accomplish in October… It also needs to recognize they are, by far, the greatest threat to our nation in the world today. China has the most advanced technology for spying in the world, which, ironically, it has been stealing from the US for the past three decades.

The US:

Here in America, we are arguably in the “dark night of the soul” as political hatreds and battles have not only paralyzed the function of our governance, but a growing number of homegrown terrorists are attacking innocent people in schools, malls, and synagogues. The recent mass shooting in the normally tranquil state of Maine is reigniting the decades-long push for gun control in the nation.

Since the 1980s, so-called globalization has produced severe economic inequality that has resulted in fueling political hatred and rebellions for decades. Too many young people are overdosing and committing suicide in numbers never seen before as they seem to lack a vision or constructive purpose for their lives. Most apparently, the most powerful nation on earth seems to be moving through the “End Times” predicted by many “seers”, testaments, medicine men, and psychics describing their visions through the ages.

This month, events in the economy will likely lead to a stock market “crash” between Nov. 3 and Nov. 12, when Mercury and Mars in Scorpio oppose Uranus in Taurus. This will not last, however, as transits in optimistic Sagittarius come into play at the end of the month, and solutions present themselves. There will be much talk about debt – banking, corporations, governments, and individuals that is haunting our nation. This is looming side by side with the serious issue of interest rates and what the Fed will do about them.

After a historic civil war in the Republican Party in the House, a Speaker was finally elected. Mike Johnson, from Louisiana, the newly elected Speaker, is a Trump supporter who voted against certifying the election of 2020, is against women’s reproductive rights, and gay marriage, and is ensconced in the extreme “right” of the political spectrum. This month, there will be a continuation of the ongoing disputes to pass some form of budget. Congressmen in both parties are “terrorized” by death threats.

There are Republicans who honestly take their responsibilities seriously and wish to govern, and they will become more vocal this month. Two famous journalists/authors, Peggy Noonan (Republican) and Thomas Friedman (Democrat) have written editorials with dire warnings that the present Trump-dominated wing of the Republican party threatens to derail our government and end Democracy in the US. Pluto went direct in October, making its last return to the Pluto in the chart of the US, leading to whether or not we destroy ourselves or experience a rebirth of our values and substantiate our very existence.

Pres. Biden, with Mars transiting through his sign this month, has to deal with a broken Congress, two big regional wars, the rise of China as an enemy, the uncertainty of our alliances with India, ongoing inflation, citizens complaining about the economy, getting a budget passed, multiple labor strikes, mass shootings, domestic terrorists, and just getting up every morning to face it all. He is fighting for badly needed aid to both wars in Israel/ Palestine and the Ukraine. This month, Biden will continue to have talks with China in the hope of keeping a dialogue going and avoiding the potential of a terrible war.

Former Pres. Trump has to deal with multiple indictments and federal and civil lawsuits. His former staff members and supporters are making deals with the courts, by pleading guilty to multiple lies about the 2020 election in turn for staying out of jail. Their testimonies will help to convict Trump of the crimes listed in his multiple indictments. With the transits in Scorpio in his natal chart, his family members will be brought into the picture. His future looks pretty grim this month. It looks even more difficult in the Spring of 2024.

What do the constellations say?

The slow-moving planets, with mass implications for humanity, are in the late degrees of the signs they are currently transiting, Pluto is still in Capricorn (the disestablishment of the establishment and the end of the reign of older generations). Neptune is in Pisces, the sign of the passing Age of Pisces and the reign of organized religions defining how people perceive reality. Uranus in Taurus, governing land masses, boundaries defining nations, and earth formations and instabilities points to upheavals in all these areas. We are looking at the shattering of previous ideas, boundaries, economies, and perceptions of what constitutes our worldviews. We are clearly looking at what no longer works and those whose perceptions of reality are DENYING the amazing breakthroughs in science, technology, and newly collaborative humanitarian efforts created by amazing people. Which leads me to hypothesize about what lies ahead.

What lies ahead?

Pluto is going into Aquarius in 2024, and in 2025 – 2026, Neptune and Saturn are going into Aries, and Uranus is going into Gemini – all long-term transits that are forming positive supportive aspects with one another. This is, undeniably, a “wow” configuration of planets that lends hope for a human race that will “crack the cosmic egg”, wake up in a “quantum world”, and leave behind the ancient definitions of who and what we are.

Standing at the precipice of possible extinction, I am of the opinion that we will very likely put together the components to solve the looming problems that threaten our existence. Nuclear fusion, the use of hydrogen, and advanced battery technology will end the age of fossil fuels. Last month, an article in “EEE Spectrum” (a technology site) posted an article by Tom Clynes, entitled “Five New Fusion Prospects, minus the Neutrons” – which presents the promise of non-lingering radiation fuels in the quest for the next generation of nuclear fusion quests. What we all need to grasp is that this technology, the “Holy Grail” of energy, is moving rapidly ahead. When properly regulated, the use of AI will make information available to all who wish to explore it.

Cleaning up oceans, planting trees, and newly designed architecture of buildings will end the current rapid global warming era. Pluto is going into 00 degrees of Aquarius in Jan. 2024 and is described in the book, “The Zodiac by Degrees” as: “A traveler comes upon an ancient temple in the desert, part of it fallen into ruin and part of it adapted for modern use.” At its best, Aquarius stands for “collaboration” – the opposite of war – and a recognition that we are all residing here together, participating in the human experiment.,

Advances in medicine, especially “crisper” technology and bio-genetic engineering ( It was recently announced that a gene therapy cure for Sickle Cell disease has been released); transforming the food we consume that is affecting intestinal microbes, restoring our immune systems and metabolic function; engineering robotic replacements for lost limbs; implants that will correct brain imbalances and neurological illnesses are all being tested and examined now, as we speak!

This newsletter will continue to refer to publications that point to amazing scientific discoveries that are, too often, missed or ignored by the public at large. As an astrologer, I believe that my job is to describe the meanings behind the historic movements of planets through the great constellations and how they illuminate our future possibilities. This is my mission and my commitment.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

The Sign of Libra and Its Greatest Challenge – To Make the Peace.

There will be significant efforts made this month to settle disputes and conflicts. The Writers Guild in Hollywood has come to an agreement with management, while the Actor’s union is still negotiating for image protection, decent wages, and benefits. Worker strikes have swept our nation looking to get wages and benefits simply to keep pace with inflation. The financial gap between workers and the top brass has not been this wide since the early 20th Century’s “Gilded Age”.

We all know the government is faced with a budget shutdown because a small group of MAGA Republicans in the House are uncompromising. Agreements need to be made.

The Ukrainian/Russian War has arrived at such a terrible stalemate and Russia has been so desperate, it has reached out to impoverished No. Korea for help. They may send out secret signals that a peace agreement could be negotiated. The Solar Eclipse is on Putin’s Libra stellium which would push him to make a change and could threaten his power. I am concerned about more lethal weapons being used by both sides. However, this month’s eclipses in Libra and Taurus, ruled by Venus, point to endings and beginnings in the political, legal, and financial sectors.

The Solar Eclipse on October 14 in the 22nd degree of Libra is described in the reference book: The Zodiac by Degrees as: “Standing next to a circular marble fountain, a little girl is giving two birds a drink from a cup.” This degree is conjunct a fixed star, Spica, associated with compassion, good luck in social connections, and agreements. However, the highly unstable inconjunct of this Eclipse degree to Uranus in Taurus is difficult for the economy, the housing market, and emphasizes, once again, the struggle to fund the national debt. The lack of money for health and social programs, and ongoing inflation that diminishes people’s paychecks, all combine to confuse a public that cannot agree on which politician is responsible.

Libra is a sign that supports both the rule of law and equality of opportunity. Instead, as I have often reminded my readers, we have a global economy in the coffers of a billionaire class, monopoly corporations, taxes off-shored to island nations that hide oligarch money, and inflated prices for real estate to the point that millions cannot afford to buy or rent. Meanwhile, millions of desperate migrants are coming into the country, and are being transported north and east of the southern borders, overwhelming state governments capacity to deal with housing, while Congress fails to pass legislation that would reform and define a system of rules for immigration. Some believe that Pres. Biden needs to resort to his executive power to stop all immigration across borders until long-needed legislation is passed.

Interestingly, the book entitled “Elon Musk” has just been published by the famed biographer of geniuses, Walter Isaacson, who has previously written biographies of Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, and Leonardo da Vinci. He describes Musk’s truly brutal childhood containing ongoing physical abuse, constantly challenging Musk to compete, defend himself, and win in order to survive. This would explain his challenging authorities, especially governments, even though his Space X collaboration with NASA and government support for TESLA, point to his actually needing and getting funding support from the government. Musk’s extreme “right-wing” politics and infantile displays of temper tantrums along with his great genius and vision, in many ways, are reflective of the conflicts of interests we face in America today. This is a book worth reading!

The Lunar Eclipse degree in the 6th degree of Taurus on October 28, is described as “A cat is being petted by its owner. Tiring of this, it jumps down from her lab and begins to play with a piece of string.” This degree adds playfulness and humor to an otherwise intensely serious environment of the party politics and climate catastrophes our nation is facing. Maybe, our polarized nation is very tired of all the arguing, accusing, spitefulness, and refusal to negotiate.

The Economy:

The FED’s clumsy and painful tool for fighting inflation is to raise interest rates, which hurts the millions who are paying down giant credit card debts and trying to obtain a mortgage. The biggest reason for inflation is the skyrocketing costs of fossil fuels stimulated by the Ukraine/Russia war (we have sanctioned Russian oil) and Saudi Arabia, once again, reducing their oil reaching the market in order to hike prices and profits. Airlines have been raising their prices because fuel simply costs more. They have also had problems with infrastructure in the airports and are faced with a shortage of air traffic controllers. The government shutdown will escalate the chaos.

With respect to the strikes mentioned above, American companies have moved manufacturing to China for approximately the past 35 years. As a result of our chilling relations with China over Taiwan and their military buildup, we are exiting China and bringing chip manufacturing back into the US; the biggest being the Micron Plant going up in Clay, New York. As far as the auto worker’s strike, what is happening is that car companies are moving their factories to the cheap labor in Mexico in even larger numbers so that, at this point, Mexico is now our largest trading partner. This is ironic since millions of migrants are moving into the US across the Mexican border. There is a lot of talk about making more electric cars whose manufacture would need fewer workers. Tesla, which is a non-union outlier, is keeping their operations where they are. The problem with electric cars is that the infrastructure of charging stations is not widely available. In addition, we are still using fossil fuels to make electricity. People are buying hybrids, trucks, and SUVs, all of which still use gas. It will take time to go all-electric. As I have suggested in past newsletters, nuclear fusion will be a reality by 2026-28 changing everything by providing energy beyond the age of hydrocarbons. Frankly, all other efforts are modest by comparison.

Media industries are swimming (Neptune in Pisces) in confusion. Whether to divest or bundle (to be or not to be) is the question. Consumers are looking for more shows for less money and many have gone to YouTube as an alternative. There is real animosity between Bob Eiger (CEO of Disney) and the workers – the writers and actors who have been on strike. Hopefully, there will be a settlement this month. Meanwhile, TV networks are going into more reality shows and sports events that need neither writers nor actors.

The commercial real estate market crisis is upon us. Many regional banks are still in trouble. Most of the online lending institutions, posing as banks, have gone away. All of the above will result in a market crisis between this month and the end of November which could result in a crash in the stock market. However, we may “recover” in December. I will address this in future newsletters.

Climate and Natural Disasters:

We have seen major earthquakes in Turkey, Syria, and Morocco and deadly floods in Libya – all within a three-month period. The regions of No. Africa and the Middle East are experiencing serious droughts, floods, and climate catastrophes in this cycle of Neptune in Pisces. Mt. Kilauea in HI is erupting again. More lies ahead for these regions between now and December.

I am also concerned about hurricanes developing on the East Coast of the USA. Recently, there was a hurricane that hit San Diego, California, a region that almost never experienced a storm of this magnitude. Another went up the US East Coast all the way up into Canada. More of these storms lie ahead. How severe these events will be is hard to determine.

Politics in Disarray:

In the past several months, we have witnessed multiple corruption scandals that range from “fake” person George Santos (R) from NY — to Sen. Robert Mendenez (D) from NJ recently exposed for taking money from several businesses and the nation of Egypt for favors as he is chair of the Foreign Relations Committee — to Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law who accepted over two billion dollars from the Saudis after he left as an advisor to the White House — to Justice Clarence Thomas who has been accepting trips and gifts from a billionaire for years and whose wife Jenni was sending texts supporting the MAGA group’s efforts to overturn the government on Jan. 6, 2021. The Hunter Biden dispute continues with respect to a charge of weapon possession and income tax evasion, but he is not holding nor ever has held any governmental position. The Republicans in Congress have launched a baseless attempt to impeach Pres. Biden distracts from their failure to pass a budget and amplifies the infighting that handicaps Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s attempts to govern. The transit of Mars in Scorpio simply escalates the anger, resentment, and exposure of corruption.

Senator Diane Feinstein has passed away at the age of 90 years. A “trailblazer” she was the first woman Mayor of San Francisco after the assassination of the mayor there, and among the very few women to get elected to the Senate and the only one to have served this long. She helped get the Assault Weapons Ban law passed in 1994, only to have it expire later on, yet, was known as a “moderate” Democrat who frequently worked with Republicans to pass legislation. Both Republicans and Democrats have praised her service. She is one of the “elders” who are leaving us in this era of dramatic change and transformation.

The multiple indictments against former Pres. Trump will be escalating in influence and power as Mars transits Scorpio, an extremely tense and unfavorable transit in Trump’s chart from Oct. 12th through Nov. 23rd. This transit also affects Pres. Biden’s chart as it rides across his Scorpio planets increasing a tendency to be aggressive. Here lies a “war of the worlds”. The public would prefer “none of the above” since they consider Biden to be too old and Trump to have very serious personal and legal problems. Vice President, Kamala Harris, is a Libra whose chart is being emphasized this month. She may be increasingly visible between now and the end of this year.

Democracy at risk:

The Biden Administration is working hard to support NATO and help to sustain democracies throughout the world. However, at this time, things are getting worse rather than better. Poland, a NATO nation has announced that it will no longer send weapons to Ukraine reasoning that this would threaten their own combat readiness. India, whose Prime Minister Bodi has previously announced it is exclusively a Hindu nation is embroiled in a dispute with Canada over the murder of a Sikh leader in Canada, and has announced they will suspend visas for Canadians in India. Turkey’s Erdogan, an elected head of state, has cracked down on citizen protests, arrested all those who contradict him, and has recently announced he “trusts Russia” as much as the US at this point. Nations all over Africa have recently seen their elected governments overturned by military militias and are now in the hands of armed dictators.

October 8th through Oct. 23rd, Mars transits Scorpio, pointing to more upheavals in nations throughout the world.

Science and Technology.

Recently, the James Webb Telescope has discovered a planet in another solar system, 120 light years from us, with the key ingredients that could support life. This particular planet is 8.6 times as massive as Earth. Discoveries like this are very exciting as we move toward accepting the notion of life and even intelligent life outside our planet.

In the July/August Edition of Scientific American, an article entitled “Clues, Controversies, and COVID Origins” was published, by Tanya Lewis. They have surveyed the multiple and often confusing data with regard to whether COVID came from a “wet market” from an animal — or a lab in Wuhan, China. Their conclusions: “At least eight U.S. intelligence agencies have conducted their own investigations of the virus’s origin. Four agencies concluded with ‘low confidence’ that a natural spillover from animals is most likely, two favor a lab leak with ‘low’ or ‘moderate’ confidence, and two are undecided. The U.S. government has ordered information related to COVID origins to be declassified.” This issue around COVID’s origins is still very clouded and uncertain.

Most of us today are concerned about the consequences and effects of AI on our society. Personally, I think it is a great tool for information gathering, but there may be a great need for “regulating” it since the information that has been put up on the internet by humans to begin with frequently fails the smell test. We now are faced with a multitude of lies, misleading statements, and sites targeted to incite hate and violence that have been observed all over the internet for the past 30 years with almost no constructive criticism or oversight. In the same edition of Scientific American, an article was published entitled “AI’s IQ” by an assessment psychologist, Eka Rolvainen. He administered an IQ test to ChatGPT in which it scored about 155. “The mean score among college-educated Americans is only 113; only 5 percent score 132 or higher.” He writes: “Does this mean the jobs of clinical psychologists and other professionals are threatened by AI? Not yet. Despite its high IQ, ChatGPT fails at tasks that require real humanlike reasoning or an understanding of the physical and social world. It flubs obvious answers to riddles such as “What is the first name of the father of Sebastian’s children?” Its response this past March was: “I’m sorry, I cannot answer this question as I do not have enough context to identify which Sebastian you are referring to.” ChatGPT seemed unable to reason logically and tried to rely on its vast database of ‘Sebastian’ facts derived from online texts.” He goes on to report: “The combination of ChatGPT’s very high verbal IQ and its amusing failures, however, means trouble for Boring’s definition (defined in a previous paragraph)and indicates there are aspects of intelligence that cannot be measured by IQ tests alone. Perhaps my test-skeptic patients have been right all along.” This article is worth reading if you are worried that AI will replace the workforce. Incidentally, I was appalled at the low IQ scores recorded for Americans! Maybe, rather than worrying about AI, we should be concentrating on the quality of education in this nation.

Final Thoughts:

If I were an extraterrestrial (sometimes, I think I am) wandering around human societies in disguise and carefully observing their behavior – I would be amazed, confused, and terrified to observe a species of life so amazingly creative and, at the same time, so horrifically destructive. It would seem as if we are capable of visiting a “higher order” of intelligence while simultaneously being directed by the motivations of a hungry crocodile swimming around in the swamp who would grab and consume everything in sight.

The evolution of life on planet Earth, with its many eras of extinctions and revivals, is both amazing and incomprehensible; containing some kind of mystery surrounding it that defies even the smartest and most insightful of us humans. The constellations swirl around us, offering us legends and stories containing our possible fates. The rest is unknown and will be chosen by us. What are the fates you will choose? Stay tuned!

Blessings,

Earth Signs: Virgo and Taurus Face the Music Together:

We have all heard and used the words: “Let’s get real.” We have also given and received the good advice: “We need to come down to earth.” The sign of Virgo (mutable earth) symbolizes the quintessential curious person who comes face to face with pragmatic reality — and Taurus (fixed earth) has its back! Whether we launch the questions: “Where’s the beef” or “What’s the cost?”, we are now tuning into the Virgo section of our charts and Taurus evaluates the entire system presenting an accounting of profits or losses.

Since this is the season of harvest in the Northern Hemisphere, historically, the Virgo’s job is to sort out and harvest the crops, evaluating whether the food is safe to eat or must be thrown out. Cleanliness and order are important to this sign, which is why health and medicine are often fields of interest for the Virgos. They are not afraid of work. In fact, many Virgos work so hard, that they have to pay attention to their own health and consciously make an effort to organize their time to include rest.

When it comes to investing in financial markets, this is not a sign concerned with “luck” gambling, or speculating, which is why September is generally a “down” month for the stock market which reveals all the economic flaws and stumbling blocks. In short: the Devil is in the details!

The Virgo New Moon this year (Sept. 15) happens to trine Uranus in Taurus, pointing to profits in residential real estate and new technologies, possibly installed within private housing. The Sabian Degree (quoted from “The Zodiac by Degrees” by Martin Goldsmith) associated with this New Moon is: “A coat of arms over the stone gateway of a manor with a prominent Latin motto. Standing in the gateway, the woman of the house gives a warm welcome to a visitor.” But its opposition to Neptune (the stuff dreams are made of) a few days later will reveal that fantasy does not necessarily equal reality, so watch out!

Venus in Leo (fire) is square Jupiter in Taurus (earth) on the 17th and is square Uranus in Taurus on the 29th. Unfortunately, this points to the possibility of more fires, extreme heat, and catastrophic storms.

Mercury goes direct on the 15th, moving projects forward that have been held up or put aside. By the first week of October, it will trine Pluto, which, along with Venus sextile Mars, will settle some of the worker strikes. Including the writers-actors strikes in Hollywood that have been going on during the Summer. This is the time to make deals and settle conflicts.

The Virgo (health) emphasis points to possible viral epidemics returning, so it is important for persons in the high-risk category to get their vaccinations. Virgo rules the intestines, so it is important for people with disorders in this area to get the medical care they need.

Weather and Natural Events:

The dangerous weather events I discussed in last month’s newsletter presented themselves in the horrible, massively destructive fire in Lahaina, Maui, HI, the worst fire in the US in over 100 years. Severe heat, drought, and extremely high winds, combined with an electrical fire are thought to be behind this tragic event. The highly unusual hurricane that moved up the coast of the Pacific from Mexico into California has not been seen in this locale since 1939. As mentioned above, Venus goes direct in Leo and is in this sign through early Oct., Severe heat waves continue, increasing the danger of fires. Storm systems, likely on the East Coast, are moving forward again from the end of this month into the first week of October.

The 60th Anniversary of of the March on Washington promoting the Civil Rights Act, led by Martin Luther King, Jr. was celebrated last month. It is a sober reminder of the fact we have not come very far as racism, entrenched poverty, and failed efforts at education, are all still with us.

Trump – Indictments and Trials:

The Trump Cartel is using all this publicity (including his mug shot) to keep the Trump Reality Show going on the media, i.e. hate the government, prosecute and investigate the prosecutors, and promote their motto: “Keep hate alive!” Between November and December, things will be getting darker for the Trump campaign.

The Economy:

The hawkish Fed raised interest rates again last month in another effort to slow inflation and the effects will be felt this month. Financial markets historically tend to move downward in September and October. Uncertainties in stock values, real estate, and wobbly regional banks will come home to roost this month. Last month’s newsletter reported on the massive amount of debt this nation’s population has assumed. It was officially reported by the government in August that the collective personal debt of US citizens has risen to over $1 Trillion!

On Aug. 9, CNBC Finance reported: “A new issue highlighted by Moody’s may cast a pall over banks. They’ve been forced to pay customers more for deposits at a pace that outstrips growth in what they earn from loans. The boost from higher rates was fleeting, evaporating in the first quarter of this year, when bank failure jolted depositors out of their complacency and growth in net interest margin turned negative. In company-specific reports, Moody’s said it had placed US Bank under review for a downgrade for reasons including its ‘rising deposit costs and increased use of wholesale funding.”

We also need to confront the rising waves of online lending institutions, competing with the banks, that are not insured by the FDIC, and would not be able to insure or support themselves if borrowers cannot pay their debts.

Overall, crises will present themselves into a November climax that may present a high probability of a crash on Wall Street. However, there will likely be a recovery between December and January, when bullish Sagittarius planets present themselves and ward off recession.

With Neptune’s transit in Pisces making multiple aspects, be prepared for confusion!

Foreign Relations and the Multi-polar World:

Pres. Biden made an effective and most important move last month to forge a strong alliance between the US, Japan., and South Korea. This, along with strengthening and enlarging NATO, has been done to discourage invasions that have been launched by Russia and those threatened by No. Korea and China, whose giant military capabilities loom not only over Taiwan, but over most of Asia.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine should remind us of the necessity of these coalitions. With Uranus in Taurus, it would remind us of the 1930s when Hitler rose to invade European nations. With the weapons of mass destruction that have been developed, strong coalitions involving the US may discourage matters from getting worse, without which vulnerable democratic nations in these regions could be invaded and conquered. It was announced last month that the US, The Netherlands, and Denmark are all shipping F-16s to the Ukrainians, but extensive training has to take place before they can be used. This month into October, there may be attempts made to make a peace agreement. Last month, Putin eliminated Wagner Group leader and rebel, Prigozhin, reasserting his control over all factions. He is not making progress in the war. The new F-16s he knows are coming to the Ukrainians and the Russian economy is suffering from the sanctions. Another blow to their national pride came when Russia’s attempt to land a lunar rocket failed last month. Putin’s chart is suffering Uranus square his Pluto in the 10th House of Career and Neptune is square multiple progressions into Sagittarius in his second house of finances.

Nations all over the African Continent are suffering. With the recent military takeover of Niger, overthrowing their democratically elected government, we are reminded of failed states in Sudan, Ethiopia, Tunisia (now run by a dictator), Mali, Burkina Faso, Libya, and the horrible civil war in Syria, still under the dominance of Assad, who has murdered over a third of his population. Russia is behind many of these national disasters. They supply military weapons to terrorists and rebels. In addition, the Islamic State is still a presence in these regions.

China’s Premier, XI Jinping skipped his speech at the recent BRICs meeting. The current transits in Virgo are not health-friendly in his chart (Sun in Gemini) this month. The transit of Pluto into Aquarius next year, crossing the Ascendant and Moon of the chart of China would present huge changes and crises in leadership on the horizon.

Japan announced last month that they are releasing previously stored and contaminated water from the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster, into the Pacific Ocean, claiming it has been cleaned up. The question remains how you clean up nuclear pollution that essentially remains for hundreds of years.

India launched a successful rocket to the moon last month. Their economy is growing. However, the gap between the super-rich and the very poor is larger than ever in this nation. Prime Minister Bodi is increasingly autocratic. Massive flooding and severe droughts due to climate change are taking a major toll on this nation.

The nation of Israel is still showing signs of a major civil conflict with regard to the powers of their Supreme Court v. their Prime Minister. They need to actually create a constitution but are so conflicted with one another, that this would seem impossible at this point. Uranus in Taurus points to all these upheavals.

Science and Technology:

It was recently announced to the media that “US scientists achieve net energy gain for second time in nuclear fusion reaction.” The Laurence Livermore National Laboratory’s National Ignition Facility achieved the feat by using lasers to fuse atoms. This is the site that was used to make the hydrogen bomb back in the Cold War years and is now being used to achieve the “holy grail” of clean, infinite energy.

Physicist Michio Kaku has formed a term: “quantum supremacy” to describe the move from digital to “quantum” computing. AI (artificial intelligence), which has been with us for some time is now expanding beyond anything we have ever seen or contemplated before. In the September Issue of Scientific American, there is a very interesting article by George Musser entitled “An AI Mystery.” They report: “Researchers are struggling to understand how artificial intelligence models know things no one told them.” This article is worth reading as it answers some of our questions as to how a machine “thinks”. In recent decades, as the internet has expanded into an AI capacity never seen before, we have seen the result of non-examined or unregulated information posted online on social media and “dark websites” that are frequently behind criminal activities. Much of this has resulted in violence, hatred, attempts to overthrow the government, mass shootings, and even suicides passing over our nation in massive waves. The looming question is: How can we be assured that all this “quantum” information is reliably constructive and absolutely true?

In the May 2023 Issue of Scientific American, an article by Philip Ball was published entitled: “Designing Life”. It reports: “Synthetic morphology is enabling scientists to coax living matter into shapes and forms never seen in nature.” There is a lot of speculation with respect to non-living entities “taking over the world”, such as quantum computers and robots. These realms of scientific achievement transcend all this and would remind us of Aldous Huxley’s famous novel, “Brave New World”. The article reports “Much of synthetic biology involves genetic engineering to introduce networks of genes that give cells new functions, such as manufacturing enzymes to make a nonnatural molecule. Synthetic morphology works at the next level: controlling the shapes and forms into which many cells will assemble. Using the cells of multicellular organisms (like us), the technology might allow scientists to design entirely new tissues, organs, bodies, and even organisms by exploiting the tremendous versatility and plasticity of form and function that seem to reside in living matter. “ The coming breakthroughs in medicine that are predicted with Pluto going into Aquarius and Uranus going into Gemini (2025-26) are so spectacular we can barely conceive of what lies ahead.

In the September 2023 Issue of Scientific American, an article entitled Next-Gen CRISPR and the Future of Gene Editing” was published, about Emmanuelle Charpentier. “As a chief architect of formative CRISPR research, Emmanuelle Charpentier shared the 2018 Kavlre Prize in Nanoscience with Jennifer Doudna and Virginjus Siksnys – followed by a 2020 Novel prize with Doudna. Charpentier talked with Scientific American Custom Media about how to harness the full power of CRISPR to fortify crops against the impacts of climate change; how to accelerate the treatment of infectious and genetic diseases; and what lies ahead for science itself.” It is worth your time to read this article in full. All this reflects the profound promise of the Age of Aquarius!

Final Thoughts:

This is the time when we are indisputably confronted with a fact. Human nature is now a threat to nature! The consequences of our release of greenhouse gases and massive amounts of chemical pollution into the environment; the infantile, selfish, and short-sighted behaviors that create economies for the super-rich only, the subversion of critical thinking, and electing really bad leaders; the looming threat of wars brewing with massively destructive weapons in multiple nations throughout the world, are all signs that our current “nature” doesn’t work anymore. We are confronted with two choices – extinction or evolution!

I am of the belief that we can actually change our so-called “nature.” The better sides of our minds and hearts are intrinsic and have expressed themselves nobly for centuries through the contributions of great men and women. It is time for an evolutionary leap in human consciousness that produces societies that are healing, constructive, intellectually advanced, and spiritually attuned to the greater reality.

The world awaits us!

Blessings to all,

Leo meets Virgo: Corporations v. Labor v. Healthcare…
Who will win this battle?

Here in the US, we have a corporate-dominated, industrial-efficiency money-emphasis healthcare system. Marginalized people are not benefiting. Rising addiction and homelessness combined with rising costs have led to healthcare being 1/5 of the US gross domestic product. We spend the most of any other industrialized nation and have the poorest outcome, including more deaths in childbirth than any other developed nation. It is not unusual for a self-employed individual here to have to pay $5000 per month for a health insurance plan with huge deductibles.

Doctors have become so highly specialized, people are made to feel they cannot get the overall evaluations. They are frequently not seen as whole persons – that their biological organs are treated like component parts of a machine. A doctor will often do only one or two things in his/her specialty. A person’s “component parts” can only be examined by what I like to call “follicle specialists” that have been trained so specifically, a patient has to see three or four doctors in each specialty. And they often charge enormous fees to boot! Primary physicians, who have a more comprehensive view of a patient’s history and needs, are diminishing in numbers because they do not make as much money and their expenses are very high. Today’s physicians struggle to even get into medical school. They often have taken out enormous loans to pay for their schooling. In all cases, liability insurance for doctors is so expensive, it often exceeds $100,000 a year!

The pharmaceutical giants and insurance companies are making enormous profits. They locate their manufacturing abroad where there are tax advantages and a cheaper labor force. The cost of drugs here in the US is far higher than in any other nation, which is why many Americans go to Canada for their prescription drugs. The Affordable Care Act is limited in its scope, leaving most so-called middle-class Americans in the so-called “doughnut hole.” The Republicans have been fighting to get rid of even this limited benefit.

The recent historic COVID pandemic has taken a toll on a system already in trouble. We have a growing population of senior citizens needing more extensive care. Many doctors have taken an early retirement and others are simply exhausted from the whole ordeal. Between now and October, these issues and imbalances will come to the surface.

Many celebrities ( actors, musicians, and politicians) had health crises or passed away last month. The Virgo transits call our attention to our friends and family members who are vulnerable to health issues, especially those connected to intestinal problems.

Politics:

The transits in Virgo continue to raise significant tensions in Trump’s astrological chart. There are no doubts about his multiple indictments. The uncertainty lies in his ability to postpone trials until after the coming election. In addition, he may have some hidden health concerns. We are also looking at health issues with Republican Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell, and Democratic Senator Diane Feinstein, who are over 80 years old.

The public, who are confronted with another Biden versus Trump, wants “none of the above”. Biden has accomplished constructive legislation that has not been seen since FDR. But we are a “media” culture that does not like the way Pres. Biden looks – like an old man. Trump is also older, but he appeals to a culture-shocked population that likes the fact he has announced he would overthrow or “fire” most of the government agencies. As Americans, we need to look more closely at who we really are! Do we understand what Democracy is and what it entails? This is what results when the public education system abandons civics, political science, and history.

The Stock Market:

With Mercury and Mars trining Jupiter and Uranus, economic news will basically be positive. Over the long run, markets will decline in September and October. There will be more serious sell-offs with Mars opposing Jupiter and Venus opposing Uranus at the end of October, with a possible stock market “crash” between November 10th – 13th, with Mercury square Saturn and Mars opposing Uranus. Part of this picture will coincide with serious climate catastrophes. It might be wise to take your profits this month.

Hollywood:

The core creative aspect of the movie, television, and streaming industries are the writers and actors who, with the exception of top executives and mega stars, are barely paid a living wage and have little or no benefits. They also demand the “right to their own identity” so the corporations cannot “scan their digital likeness” for profit. The current strike of both the writers’ and actors’ unions is finally saying “no” to all this and will definitely cause pain for the industry until they get what they need. This will likely be solved by early October when Venus in Leo (actors) is sextile Mars in Libra and Mercury is trine Pluto.

Last month’s blockbusters (Venus in Leo) “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” broke records at the box office. This perfectly represents America’s love of escapist fantasy (entertainment) versus American cinema art framing real history and the lessons it can teach us. Show business will make big profits through October. New movies coming out will do well under these transits.

Personally, I saw “Oppenheimer” last month and am of the opinion that it is a masterpiece, framing a pivotal time in human history that is relevant to today’s crises facing humanity. In 2025 – 2026, Uranus returns to Gemini, and Pluto is opposed the Pluto in the charts of those times (1942-45). Both nuclear fission and nuclear fusion were used in the making of the atomic bomb. Will we drop another nuclear weapon, or will we create the holy grail of clean sustainable energy?

What now?

This month through early October, Virgo transits of Mercury and Mars will highlight the problems in a labor system that needs an overhaul! In addition, we are inundated with strikes for higher wages in many industries, including the above-mentioned writers and actors in Hollywood (Leo), teachers working in a public school system that is “broken”, UPS, healthcare workers, etc. (Virgo). There is a very serious need to raise wages for workers in industries where the very wealthy and billionaire class, about 10% of the population, possess about 80% of this nation’s wealth. With the advent of AI, companies are looking to replace most of their labor force and use “contractors” (temporary workers) wherever possible – enhancing the practices that have been with us for decades.

The tragedy in all this lies in a disgruntled population that has turned their blind hatred on the government, people of differing races and religions, and, ultimately, each other. Young people often feel they do not have a chance. Since political science, history, and civics have been removed from most schools, they do not even understand how a democracy works. States like Florida and Texas are removing targeted history truths (the horrors of slavery) from textbooks and banning books about race and sexual orientation. The guys on Wall Street are talking about a great employment economy and complaining about high-interest rates to try to stop inflation, even though it has worked. This may be true, but decades of inequality in living standards are still with us. The gap in perceived versions of “reality” is enormous.

Our young people are reacting to all of this with fewer marriages and even fewer children being born. They can’t afford housing, have massive student loans to repay, and do not make enough money to support a family. Consequences abound! Meanwhile, assault weapons are readily available in many states that have few or no gun laws. Thus, we have a rise in mass shootings in public places, along with an unprecedented rash of suicides and drug overdoses in our young population.

Climate catastrophes, which have been forecast for decades by scientists and denied by millions, are moving across the world and hitting the US at every turn. Some persons call this failure to prepare “cognitive dissonance” – a mass denial of truths and information that has been available for years, but people simply won’t or can’t face it. Oil and gas corporations are continuing their propaganda that this problem “does not exist” even though droughts, storms, fires, and floods tear across our nation. The US is running out of oil reserves to keep oil prices down. The Saudis have been raising prices to take advantage of the dependence on oil by the Europeans from Russia, as the Ukrainian war slugs onward.

The irony is that, in the Fall, as planets transit Scorpio, without oil and gas modern economies will collapse. With the continued use of fossil fuels, the climate will continue to collapse.

The Upside:

I have so much admiration for young people who are demonstrating, writing articles, dedicating themselves to economic reform, and creating organizations focusing on cleaning up our planet. They have the guts to “inform themselves” about the situation and the courage to take it all on. Books are being published, unleashing valuable information and calling us to step up to the plate and make massive changes in our lives. This is in spite of the mass media, until recently, has been ignoring reality and making enormous profits on escapism.

Between now and late November, climate emergencies will be increasing – hurricanes, floods, fires, and droughts all presenting themselves to us in ways we can no longer ignore. I am also concerned about volcanoes erupting in this cycle.

The Economy:

This month sends conflicting signals. There will be more job openings, but, ironically, at the same time, more layoffs, with both Mars and Mercury in Virgo opposite Neptune the week of the 13th. The War between Meta and Twitter (now called “X”) continues into the realm of the absurd. Venus went retrograde on July 22 and will not go direct until September 3, bringing doubt into the value of some currencies. There will be profit-taking the first week of August. With lower interest rates, the residential real estate market (Jupiter in Taurus trine Mars and Mercury) will likely tick up. However, commercial properties will continue to lose value. I would ask why more people do not discuss renovating and converting office properties into affordable housing. This idea may take hold in some areas. The media industries will suffer because of the strike. As I have said earlier, this strike may be settled by early October.

The most recent polls reveal that only 30% of Americans are happy with the economy! Why should this be the case with high employment, higher wages, and percentage inflation coming down? The answer that few persons in the media are discussing is DEBT! We got away with it when interest rates were near zero. That is now gone. Our nation is servicing mind-boggling debt – higher mortgage rates, enormously high-interest credit card debt, and student loan debt that will take years to repay.

Capitalism depends upon credit/debt institutions, without which the current economy would be in the basement. The past 50 years have seen American debt skyrocket and this includes loans corporations have taken out to buy back their own stock to keep the bubble going. Recently, a series of smaller banks collapsed and many more are at risk. People complain continually about “bad government interference”, but they have saved the banking system from collapse. Except for the reporting around student loans, the media has been silent about this and it is of supreme importance.

The War in Ukraine:

Mercury goes retrograde Aug. 23, goes direct September 15th, and all the way through the sign by October 4. Mars is in Virgo until September 27th. The war continues to be brutal. This is, in the opinion of experts, a “Drone War” and the US can’t get enough drones fast enough to Ukraine. The F-16s (top military planes) are slowly getting to where they need to be and the training of pilots is taking too long. The equipment the US and NATO has sent still lacks the personnel to train Ukrainians to use it. Russia, as it turns out, has been stockpiling many more weapons than we originally thought. The Ukrainian wheat export market agreement has expired, which feeds nations in Africa.

My concern is if this war continues into next year when Pluto goes into Aquarius on January 21 (opposite Pluto in Leo when the atomic bomb was dropped on Japan in 1945), that Putin will authorize the use of a nuclear weapon. A deal needs to be made, giving some area in Ukraine back to Russia in return for Russia halting the invasion. Putin has gotten rid of his recent enemies, which is what happens to anyone in Russia who opposes him.

Israel:

I have been forecasting, for the past 4 years, that with Uranus in Taurus, Israel would go through a challenge to its unity and power as a nation. Recently, the Knesset, their one-chamber Congress, passed a law limiting the power of their Supreme Court, as was requested by Prime Minister Netanyahu. Israel has no written constitution. Hundreds are demonstrating against this in the streets, as many perceive this as a challenge to their democracy and are handing over too much power to the executive division of the government. Upheavals will continue in this nation.

China:

This period is not good for China’s economy, as I have been reporting in this newsletter for some time. They did not manage or recover well from the pandemic. Many American industries have left China to go elsewhere. What many people do not know is that both their government and their citizens are servicing massive amounts of debt to build infrastructures not being used. The yuan is not an international currency. They have a lot of US Treasuries, so we are servicing much of their debt. Recently, it was announced in The Financial Times that USD venture capital giant, Sequoia will split off its China business. Chinese young people, saddled with 20% unemployment, are not getting married and having children. The Biden administration has been sending officials to China to strike up dialogues with Ji Jinping in an attempt to avoid an unimaginable war in the near future. We are on touchy ground!

No. Korea:

Whenever planets go into Virgo, No. Korea’s chart gets activated and its government gets aggressive. especially since Mars is in this sign until Aug. 17th and Mercury is in this sign until Oct. 4th. Last month, they shot off another nuclear warhead missile dangerously close to Japan. Kim Jong Il‘s sister seems to be assuming more and more power in the nation since the Premier is obviously not in good health, and she is proving to be as much of a sociopath as he is. Recently, an American soldier, to avoid criminal prosecution in So. Korea crossed the border into the North. South Korea is also arming itself and testing weaponry. This is a dangerous time period for our relationship with this nation.

Science and Technology:

In an article in Science (June 3, 2023) entitled “The Upper Atmosphere is Cooling, Prompting New Climate Concerns”. “Scientists are worried about the effect this change could have on orbiting satellites, the ozone layer, and Earth’s weather.” I have been reporting in this newsletter in the past that the planetary pictures in this cycle in the past have suggested a global cooling, such as in the mini-Ice Age with the transit of Pluto going into Aquarius. Thus, we have a serious conundrum between the huge cycle of warming due to greenhouse gases and the natural cycle of cooling. When cold meets heat, it usually produces storms. Scientists are seeking to “reboot” the satellites that keep track of all of this.

As all of you who read this newsletter know, I am extremely enthusiastic about the advent of nuclear fusion as the most important invention since the discovery of electricity. Many others think AI is the biggest invention. I disagree because, until we have a limitless source of clean energy up and running on the grid, when the electric grid goes down, AI can’t work. This newsletter, as before, will continue to report on the impressive progress being made with fusion and the many sites working on this technology.

In the June Issue of Scientific American in the article entitled “Star Power” by Philip Ball which reports on fusion progress to date, the last paragraph reports: “Building a new kind of energy infrastructure from the ground up present opportunities as well s challenges. Nuclear fission planners made some serious mistakes in terms of design as well as public relations, but now the nascent fusion industry has a chance to learn from those mistakes and do better – not least by thinking about the issues of energy equity and justice. ‘When we have these plants, where do we place them so that we can provide a clean energy source for all types of communities’ the NIF’s Ma asks. ‘How do we build up a workforce that is diverse? How do we ensure that as we are building up this industry, we are training folks to have the skills of the future? We get to at least try to do it right this time.”

The other side of the nuclear fusion revolution to solve our most serious energy problems is the invention of the “perfect battery” that would serve as a local source of energy when the grid breaks down and make it possible for electric vehicles to go up to 900 miles without a recharge.

Climate and Natural Events:

There was recently a 7.2 earthquake just off the coast of Alaska. Volcanoes are still erupting around the world. These events are under-reported.

The transit of Venus in Leo, retrograde until September 3, and going all the way the sign through Oct. 8 suggests record-breaking heat throughout the world and here in the US. I have already forecast this trend in previous newsletters.

The week of Aug. 20, when Mars is opposition Neptune, we will see more mega flooding and a possible hurricane. As I have commented above, our society and those who own it have chosen to ignore all the warnings for many decades about the burning of fossil fuels, which continues and will do so until we have nuclear fusion and the perfect battery, which will fundamentally change the way the world produces energy.

Final Thoughts:

As all of us navigate a world drowning in waves of crisis at every turn, many of us are simply overwhelmed with feelings of hopelessness and helplessness. Basically, most humans are “Hobbits”, inhabiting our “Shire” and want to be comfortable — ignoring the huge historic challenges that are now upon us. J.R. Tolkien understood human nature in the early 20th Century and had a sense of our strengths and weaknesses. Where is Gandolf?

What is most interesting about history is that heroic persons can and do arise, often when we least expect it, who have what it takes to lead us out of obliteration and into a new age. We must have a collective population that is able to respond to innovations in science and technology, political vision, and humanitarianism that may lead us out of the pit of despair and into the light. In short, we all need to become wizards!

Being an eternal optimist, my personal experiences lead me to believe we inhabit a universe in which all things are possible; that a greater consciousness is available to us if we open our minds and hearts. Don’t count us out quite yet!

Blessings to all,

All My Children

Cancer, the sign of the archetypal mother — the culture of family that protects, nourishes, and sustains– faces incompatible forces.

It is no news to most of us that the US, like many other nations, is living through a profound time of transition from one great age to another. Changes in technology (AI), economies with serious job displacements, millions of people in nations whose climates are devastating facing starvation and civil wars, and challenges to human psychological development — all have serious consequences. This is currently expressing itself as a series of CULTURE WARS — consisting of conflicts among differing races, sexual orientations, ideologies, notions about economies, religions, and, most of all, what we look like — and what the future holds for humanity.

Clustered into “groups” there is a huge contrast among young people who are rebellious, costumed, dancing to their own “tunes”, and resonating with what they are against, more than what they are for. This group when it comes to politics, often votes “none of the above.” There are the so-called “Liberals” who wish to expand social programs, tax corporations, allow women’s abortion rights, and vote for “equality for all.” Others remind us of the church-going, bible-thumping, book banning, racial separating, anti-gay, removing women’s reproductive rights, so-called “Conservatives.”

The USA is a nation born under the sign of Cancer (July 4, 1776) whose vast array of different ethnic origins, races, religions, and opinions, that have been here since our inception, is now shattering our union, especially since Pluto entered Capricorn (the opposite sign from Cancer and a return to Pluto in the USA chart) in 2008 and is going back and forth between Aquarius and Capricorn between now and Nov. 2024, the time of the next presidential election.

Cancer is the sign concerned with instinctual biological survival, framed by its definition of food and “family” and willing to go to the rails to defend itself and its tribe. This sign’s loyalty to what it perceives as its “own” can exhibit great courage and willingness to fight for family, friends, and country.

The looming question is always: Who are my allies, my family, my countrymen? Around the world, the ancient religions have penetrated governing bodies, reviving old wars, framed by the use of force. Iran is an extreme example, but India is suppressing Muslims and insisting on a “Hindu” state in its ongoing conflict with Islamic Pakistan.

I predicted in my previous books and newsletters, since 2007, that we would see a financial crash in 2008, the 2nd American Revolution, the disestablishment of the establishment, and the “dark night of the soul” in America. And here we are! Significant changes in these great cycles will occur starting in 2025-2026. Meanwhile, I would suggest we change our thinking to encompass all human beings as our “family” and all life on earth as our most precious system of support.

The Economy:

Last month, JP Morgan Chase settled a lawsuit against it for its relationship with child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Aspects to both Mars and Venus in Leo, inconjunct Neptune and Pluto would point to more scandals involving banking and finance that lie ahead. Last month, in Switzerland, UBS officially took over Credit Suisse, the bank that crashed last Spring. There are still many local banks that are in some kind of trouble.

Between July 10 and August 27, Mars will transit Virgo, the sign of “work and health.” There may be a convergence of strikes and layoffs highlighting the huge gap between management at the top of the corporate world and wages and/or benefits for workers, especially in the healthcare field. There may also be a minor viral epidemic. Updated COVID vaccines will be made and distributed in the US between now and October. With the release of AI, millions of jobs in technology will be eliminated and there is no getting around this.

Financial markets will not be sure where they are going this month. Mercury will oppose Pluto on July 10 and Mars will oppose Saturn between July 20-21 – pointing to selling. If I were to look at probabilities of a serious correction it would be in the October/November period. However, the North Node will go into Aries and trine Venus in Leo the last week of this month, which should encourage investors. Safety plays are secure Treasuries — and gold, which is at a low now but will rise later.

Pharmaceutical giant Merck announced they are suing the Biden Administration over Medicare drug price negotiations. Most of us are aware that the escalation of drug prices in the US for the past 20 years has been “off the charts.” Other nations throughout the world pay much less for drugs since they have some kind of federal health care and price controls. Our nation pays more for healthcare than any other nation on earth and we have the worst health benefits. As the Democrats have worked to control healthcare costs, the pharmaceutical corporations will do whatever it takes to stop this effort. The transits of Mars and Mercury in Virgo this month through October will highlight these conflicts.

Politics, Justice, and the Trump Indictment:

Currently, former President Donald Trump has been served with indictments consisting of 37 counts of violations of the Espionage Act, with multiple trials that lie ahead. His former food service assistant, Nauta, is also indicted. Trump’s core Republicans see him as their leader and defender against the “Deep State” and preserver of issues important to them — no taxes, gun rights, anti-LGBT rights, and making abortion illegal. While president, he successfully passed legislation giving the billionaire class tax breaks which created the largest budget deficit in our history. He has mobilized, in the extreme, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and lovers of “strong man” cult-style leadership, many of which stormed the capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, illegally proclaiming Trump won the election. His business has been convicted of fraud, he has been successfully sued in the civil court for rape, and there are multiple tapes and videos of him assaulting and disrespecting women. He will soon be indicted for trying to throw the election in Georgia in 2020. The government has recordings of him admitting that he did not have the authority to hold onto the top secret documents he stole from the government, thus putting our nation in grave danger… His crime is “obstruction” or refusal to give back the top secret documents he took. Still, his “base” remains loyal to him.

The degrees of the Full Moon and New Moon this month both describe “theatrical” gestures emphasizing political posturing. The New Moon is conjunct with Trump’s Saturn (limitations and delays), suggesting his trial will not be rushed but will point toward conviction. There are ways Trump can delay his trial legally with a “sea of postponements.” The current transit of Venus in Leo going over his ascendant and favorably aspecting many of his planets, (it retrogrades July 22 and goes direct September 3) points to Trump’s popularity growing even more with his “base” in this time period. However, the transits of Mars and Mercury in Virgo will be very stressful for him personally. We now know that he is building a hotel resort in Oman, financed by Saudi Arabia. His children have multiple business deals with the Saudis and the Chinese due to his political power formerly in the White House. Between Oct. 12 and Nov. 23rd, Mars transits Scorpio, highly unfavorable for Trump.

The Hunter Biden Plea and Conviction:

Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to two years of not filing tax returns (although he has since paid what he owed plus penalties), and buying a gun even though he had a drug addiction problem, which violates the law. His affiliation with a Ukrainian oil company and salary for serving on the board is also being investigated. The latter is sleazy, but not illegal. The Republicans will continue investigating this, but there has been no real evidence of real crimes, even though this has been going on for years.

The US and China:

We are currently dealing with our place of economic and military dominance in the world being challenged by China. The emotional currents in the US, influenced by tribal patriotism and anti-globalism are unrealistic and could lead us into nuclear war. It has recently been revealed that China has worked with Cuba to create a spy network in the US, making our relations worse. We are pledged to protect Taiwan’s democracy and self-determination, historically been challenged by China. They have strengthened their alliances with Russia and Iran. We had added high-tech nuclear military vessels in the Pacific. All this highlights major conflicts between the two nations.

The Biden administration has passed legislation promoting domestic manufacturing, especially chips, bringing jobs back to the US, all of which will help the US economy. However, China makes many pharma products, including antibiotics, that are necessary for our health. They have more “rare earths”, necessary in all parts of technology, than we do here. History teaches us that trade and economic ties among nations are good reasons not to go to war. In deference to emerging tribalism, Pres. Biden’s hawkish attitude toward China is worrying our allies throughout the world and needs to be examined and would command great subtly. When Pluto goes into Aquarius next year, there is a real danger of escalating military interventions.

The US and India:

Last month, Pres. Biden initiated a lavish state visit with Indian Prime Minister Bodi. Bodi has supported Hindu nationalism and is constantly clashing with Muslims in India and neighboring Pakistan over border issues. Although he is an elected head-of-state, he has cracked down on any kind of dissent and many see his government as an autocracy. However, economically, they have very strong ties with the US. His nation is a large difficult to govern sub-continent, with multiple languages and ethnic tribal populations. He has aligned his interests with China and Russia, but lately, there have been border disputes with China and he does not want to get caught up in the war with Ukraine. The transit of Uranus in Taurus is shaking up this nation’s chart, especially in connection with border issues and extreme climate catastrophes. It is in Bodi’s interest to keep a decent relationship with the US.

The War in Ukraine:

The war intensifies this month, with Ukraine having launched its big offensive. Venus (the peacemaker) goes retrograde on the 22nd of this month, goes direct on September 3rd, and makes a harmonious aspect with Mars in Libra on September 29th, postponing any peace talks until then. Last month, I predicted rebellions within Putin’s government. We now know this played out with Gen. Prigozhin’s Wagner Group challenging the Russian military’s conducting of the war. The Wagner Group is a para-military group, financed by Russia, currently operating in Africa, and has created violence, death, and chaos throughout the globe. In this instance, we are watching our enemy fighting our enemy. Putin has made some kind of deal with Prigozhin ( who is a billionaire and a thug) but he has touched popular “nerve” with Russians who never wanted this war to begin with. It is likely Putin (an even bigger thug) will find a way to “eliminate” Prigozhin. This is the way he has always dealt with dissent. The confusion (Neptune) comes into play in that Putin needs the Wagner Group.

Ukraine has surprised Russia and the world, with considerable help from NATO, in its determination to win. It will soon be ready to use the F-16 planes, known to be the most effective fighter planes in the world, that could further move Ukraine toward winning the war. Putin cannot be underestimated in his ability to eliminate enemies, but his assembly of oligarchs may be getting tired of losing money and the Russian army’s failure to win. His nuclear capabilities are very serious and nobody really knows if he is capable of using them. He and his oligarch associates are really mobsters, criminals, and sociopaths who have always held onto power with the use of military police controls. Uranus in his 7th House of enemies is square his Pluto (power) in his 10th House of career. He is like a cornered animal that will do anything to win.

Science & Technology:

An article in Science Alert on June 1st was posted entitled: “A Compact Fusion Reactor Barely 3 Feet Across Has Hit a Huge Milestone”. It reports: “Ions inside a compact fusion reactor barely a meter (less than 3 feet) across have been heated to the magic figure of 100 million degrees Celsius (some 180 million degrees Fahrenheit) for the first time in a monumental step towards making nuclear fusion energy a practical reality.”

They go on to say: “Researchers from Tokamak Energy Ltd in the UK, Princeton, and Oak “Ridge National Laboratory in the US, and the Institute for Energy and Climate Research in Germany, achieved the record on a device at a spherical tokamak (ST), which unlike the more circular ‘donut shaped’ paths heated fuel takes in larger reactors, confines plasma in a ‘core-apple shaped’ swirl intended to improve stability and practicality of power generation.” Also: “Compared with larger fusion reactors, these smaller devices are cheaper to build, and potentially more efficient and more stable — all advantages if you want to make a technology commercially viable.”

An article in “Clean Energy” was posted on June 10 by Catherine Clifford entitled “Why the ‘Mother of Dragons’ at SpaceX left her job building rockets to work on nuclear fusion.” They report: “Darby Dunn worked for a decade at SpaceX where she held a handful of engineering and production roles related to building rockets. In one of those positions, she was unofficially known as the ‘Mother of Dragons’ for her work on the spacecraft SpaceX called the Dragon.” Also: “For the last four and a half years, Dunn has been at Commonwealth Fusion Systems, where she is part of the team working in the commercial fusion industry.” It is worth reading the whole article that describes a young engineer recognizing the profound opportunity for endless clean energy to transform our world.

An article posted on “Science” by Eric Henrickson is entitled: “The Austin-based company attempts to design fusion power plant in Texas.” It goes on to report:” “Austin-based Focused Energy was one of 8 companies to have a fusion-powered electricity plan within a decade.” They continue: “The DOE selected 8 companies to receive the money. Each has 18 months to design a power plant that uses fusion power. If they are successful, then they will get more money.”

Geoffrey Hinton, the “father of AI” has been interviewed several times, warning us of the consequences of unregulated Artificial Intelligence in a central computer, and robots literally taking over many of the tasks and functions of human beings – all without overseeing or surveying what this will entail. With Pluto going into Aquarius, the sign of genius and high-level technology, for its full transit on Nov. 19, 2024, we do not have much time to contemplate what we, as a civilization, will decide to do.

Weather and Natural Events:

With the long transit of Venus in Leo (through Oct. 8), Mars in Leo until July 9th going into Virgo through Aug. 27, we can expect severe heat, drought conditions, and mega-fires continuing in the US. Between July 6-10, there may be some rain to give a small amount of relief. Planetary patterns suggest a seriously greater chance of more hurricanes between now and November.

As I have stated so many times in this newsletter, the study of hydrology (the conservation, purification, and preservation of water) will have to increase broadly in every nation, to save our existence!

The cycle of volcanoes becoming active continues this month. Volcanoes are now erupting in Hawaii, Iceland, and The Philippines.

Final Thoughts:

THE HUMAN FAMILY has formed the foundation of our biological survival in the wilderness and within the framework of civilization for thousands of years. More recently, the institution of marriage and childbearing has been turned upside down and revised on many levels – no longer the stable format, taken for granted, or even easily understood. Throughout history, marriage and family were the foundational economic units of society. People married to preserve royal lines, create a workforce to feed families and ensure inheritance of money and estates, and, most of the time, love had nothing to do with it. Women were “property” of husbands and fathers. Children were used as a workforce or royal heirs and were completely controlled by parents. Religions sanctioned these unions to “keep it all together.”

In the 20th Century, women in industrialized Western civilizations began to demand their independence from marriage as the only option for their lives. Getting an education, demanding the right to vote, having access to birth control, joining the workforce, and getting paid for their labor upended the ancient system. More recently, in the US, the “Me Too” movement has exposed sexual abuse and the commodification of women and children. These have now become criminal acts punishable by law. The rights of gay persons to marry, have families, and be socially accepted have risen and are being acknowledged and celebrated by many.

We all now know that there has been a “backlash” against all this in the US by Fundamentalist Christian Churches. Women’s right to an abortion has been ended in many states. The Southern Baptists recently outlawed women pastors within their denomination. In developing nations throughout the world, the enslavement of women and children and the punishment of gay people by the men in power is still entrenched.

Families breaking up, children who are fatherless and abused, often because of drug addiction and alcoholism grow out of extreme poverty, racial and ethnic marginalization, and homelessness. In the US, there is a historic widening gap between the rich and the poor. Imposing a framework of “family” with a set of definitions and rules cannot overcome these realities.

I have serious concerns that, as Pluto goes into Aquarius, the sign of high-tech and virtual reality, humanity is in danger of losing its “soul”. People have lost contact with one another and have replaced love with “nuts and bolts” and “big bucks” — or should I say we have entered an age of Mechanistic Materialism, isolated from nature and human contact, with our eyeballs plastered to our PCs and cell phones.

On a personal level, over 50 years ago, my husband and I became volunteer parents to a family of six wonderful young people. The one biological child in this family is my son from a previous marriage who has remained close to his wonderful sisters. All the ensuing grandchildren and great-grandchildren have joined our lives over the years to create a unit of love, support, and, most importantly, an undeniable sense of humor. We have all been through multiple existential crises as individuals, but we are all on a team that has won multiple victories together.

Families are what they decide they are and, as a unit, with love and respect, can overcome whatever life throws at them. I wish each and every one of you a very happy family!

Blessings,

Gemini meets up with Leo…
The Truth vs. The Show

Gemini, the twins, is an energetic, youthful curious sign whose function is learning and communicating — and whose challenge is discovering and speaking the “ real” truth.” However, what the real truth really is is continually subject to interpretation! Interestingly, each one of Gemini’s “twins” contained within one personality may have a different take on what is going on.

Ancient myths surrounding the constellation of Gemini — such as Biblical brothers Cane and Abel, Castor, and Pollux, and the fairy tale sisters, Rose Red and Rose White — all examine the notion of the “good twin” and the “bad twin.” When we get together, I often ask my Gemini friends: “Which one of you is here among us today? Personal charm and verbal skill are Gemini’s assets and changeability is its liability.

With the current Venus and Mars transiting Leo, the element of creative self-expression comes into play. In short, Leo, the actor’s “show business” talent lights up the stage as this sign harmonizes with Gemini and releases new concerts, movies, streaming shows, and live theater – all very entertaining and mood-enhancing. It could also highlight the recent show business/political mud wrestling match between Disney, Trump, and Florida Governor, Ron Desantis.

Since we are all moving and slugging through the “end times” with seeming tragedies at every turn, mass shootings at every mall, collapsed climates, and economies forcing millions to migrate out of their nations, this is a welcome escape and would remind us of decades gone by when we were “civilized, the economy looked prosperous, and the future looked bright for all the young and illustrious.

Recent celebrities with this combination in their charts (Gemini Sun, Leo rising) are Donald Trump, Rudy Guliani, and Johnny Depp. They will be in the news and opinions will move to the extremes interpreting the information. Trump will be “swimming” in lawsuits and indictments.

Vladimir Putin has his Moon in Gemini, as does the modern astrological chart for Russia… Needless to say, these persons have been embroiled in controversy and nobody seems to know if what they are saying is true or simply their version of the truth.

Chinese Premier Ji Jin Ping has his Sun in Gemini and presides over the second-largest economy and military complex in the world. He continually “spins” the “truth” to his liking, is making his influence felt throughout the world, and does not like to be challenged. However, the US needs to look carefully at our tendencies to “demonize” China (outlawing TickTock). We need to have diplomatic relations with one another, as we need to do with other heads of state who are bad actors in order to avoid an economic backlash, a nuclear war, and ending the world as we know it. We need to remember that since there is little or no effective cyber security in place, we are all hacking and spying on each other. It was recently reported on ArsTechinca: “China said US chip maker Micron Technology’s products posed ‘serious network security risks’ as it banned operators of key infrastructure from buying them, as its first big measure against an American semiconductor group.” Obviously they are “getting back” at us.

Good “twin” Gemini recommends that we look at all sides of an issue and examine more than just one solution to problems arising in a highly complex world.

The Natal Sibly Horoscope of the USA (July 4, 1776, 5:10 PM LMT, Philadelphia, PA, 75W09 – 39N57)

The chart of the USA contains Uranus (innovations and sudden upheavals) in Gemini and Mars in Gemini square (in conflict) with Neptune (illusions). This would suggest that we are a nation of sudden and swift changes in mood, easily seduced by what I like to call the “Bonnie and Clyde” syndrome of being attracted to glamorous criminals and violence. The population’s historic Westward movement in the 1800s resulted in an ungovernable class of violent criminals, bank robbers, and gunslingers glamorized by Hollywood in the 1940s and 50s. Today, our love of a misguided concept of “liberty and freedom” without responsibility, would extend to unregulated gun ownership – even military-grade weapons – used by mentally unstable people in mass shootings in shopping malls, schools, and places of worship.

We are still struggling with the fact that the original American colonists enslaved Africans and committed mass genocide against Native Americans. We had a deadly civil war over these issues and racism is still an ongoing issue. In addition, we need to take into account that the Mars/Neptune square describes our historic national “romance” with liquor and drugs. The current transit of Neptune in Pisces, setting off these conflicts, is surfacing in terrible ways.

These configurations can and have been used in more constructive ways. In the 20th Century, we led the way to global industrialization, great inventions, and widely used technologies (Uranus). Our contribution to the winning of WWII united the nation and resulted in the greatest economic expansion in US history. We have launched rockets into space, gone to the moon, engineered breakthroughs in medicine and health, invented the internet, cell phones, and AI, and have the world’s largest military/industrial complex.

Now, Pluto is moving into democratic Aquarius. Humanity is entering a new era that challenges our previous notions — including so-called white supremacy, binary sexuality, tribal versions of Christianity, and economic elitism. New technologies like AI, space travel, and online social media have served up enormous advances in knowledge, along with a lack of insight and discrimination about what it all means. The recent past has served up social isolation, a diminishing of real and meaningful education, a loss of platforms containing critical thinking and peaceful civilized discourse, and, most of all a movement of wealth upward into a class roughly equal to the monarchies of the past.

The great transit of Pluto in Aquarius is in harmony with Uranus and Mars in Gemini in the US chart, as well as its Saturn (order and structure) in Libra. This placement would lend hope that there will be a real movement in the US toward effective democracy, the inclusion of all peoples, fair and supportive economies, breakthroughs in clean energy, and solutions to climate catastrophes across the world.

The Economy:

This month, there will be up and down swings in the stock market that will produce confusion, since we are neither in a boom nor a recession. The week of June 18, Jupiter makes a sextile (favorable) aspect to Saturn that would suggest inflation is leveling off and the Feds need to be less aggressive. That particular week may see a surge in investments, but overall the markets will trade within a “range”.

The media writers’ strike continues, this month, but the Venus in Leo (entertainment) will help these negotiations and there may be a settlement between September and October.

The Ukraine/Russian War:

I am using the charts of modern Ukraine, Dec. 1, 1991, 6:00 PM GMT, Kyiv, Ukraine, and modern Russia Dec. 8, 1991, 5:45 PM GMT, Moscow, Russia – researched and calculated in “The Book of World Horoscopes by Nicholas Campion.

With the current transit of Mars in Leo, crossing the ascendants of both these charts, this war will continue to escalate. With transiting Uranus in Taurus, opposing Pluto in both charts, more new war technologies will come into play and more destruction will ensue. Venus’ (the peacemaker) transits in Leo June 6 through Oct. 8 (Venus retrogrades from July July 22 through September 3) would lend hope to negotiating possible peace agreements. There will be power struggles in Russia. Putin’s control will diminish and there will likely be hidden power struggles within the Kremlin. Eventually, a deal will be proposed involving Ukraine ceding some small part of its territory, but neither side will be a complete “winner.”

Science and Technology:

Fusion is the news as of Now!

It was recently posted on Apple News: “Microsoft signs groundbreaking nuclear fusion deal.”
They go on to report Microsoft has signed a power purchase agreement with nuclear fusion energy startup Helion for at least 50 megawatts of electricity beginning in 2028, the company announced Wednesday.”

An article by Andrew Lee was posted May 18 on Energy Transition that reported Bill Gates fund expert announced “We’ll be building better fusion reactors for 10 million years.” The article goes on to say: “Nuclear fusion energy could be ‘even more important than the Industrial Revolution’ but offers no quick wins for investors and will need smart collaboration between the private and government sectors to unlock its massive potential, said an expert backing companies in the field on behalf of billionaires such as Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos. It goes on to say: “Fusion is one of those technologies that totally changes the game,” said Phil Larcholle, a partner at Breakthrough Energy Ventures, the fund set up by Gates to invest in key energy transition innovations that also has the Amazon founder and a string of other ultra-rich investors on its books.” They continue: “Larochelle said of fusion, which aims to harness the reactions that power the sun to produce unlimited, on-demand, zero-carbon energy: ‘In the annals of human history you’ll have . . . 300 years where we were burning fossil fuels and doing chemical reactions.” “Once we get the first fusion reactors, we’ll be building better fusion reactors for 10 million years.” It is worth going online and reading the whole article.

The front cover of my favorite magazine, Scientific American is entitled “Star Power –
What is the future of fusion energy?” The article explains a lot about fusion and the different ways it is being made but does not see this energy being produced on a wide scale for many years. This has been the typical information put out there for a long time, but so much progress is being made now in chambers throughout the world, and the rapid development of this energy has surprised many skeptics. I am saying, as an astrologer, that at least one site will be producing fusion energy effectively by 2026 – 2028. This is a great article that explains the technology. It is worth a good read.

Final Thoughts:

We are living in an age of mass communication that has historically never been seen or felt before. Unfortunately, much of the media has become a “weapon of mass distraction”. Government standards have been dropped for truth-telling in the news media since the 1980s. Critical thinking requires a well-educated, open, and civilized mind framed by high standards– something we seem to be severely lacking. When real information of quality is given out, it is often not “entertaining” or in agreement with a particular political or religious mindset.

Now is the time that we need to become a nation of adults who take responsibility, and look beyond our personal addictions and eyeballs plastered to our cell phones. In short, it is time to grow up! The question: What does an adult look like?

Adults actually contemplate making decisions and their possible consequences; they care about family, society, and those beyond themselves; they are concerned with nature and climate, an equitable economy, and presenting their varied opinions to others with dignity and respect. Will we recognize them when they come?

Stay tuned!

Jupiter transits Taurus May 17, 2023 through May 5, 2024

Follow the Money!

First, we need to examine how the transit of Uranus (inventions and technology) in Taurus (money and property (March 2019 – July 2025 plus Nov. 2025 – April 2026) has presented to us a “wild ride” across the financial landscape. Digital money (cryptocurrencies), and the general movement out of paper checks and cash into online transactions have dominated the transference of money whether we like it or not. Uranus is a planet whose “realm” is technology and he has been at work with the advent of Bitcoin and Block Chain platforms, PayPal and its offspring, and/or simply paying for everything with an app on our cell phones. Taurus is a sign that traditionally symbolizes land and real estate. The transit through this sign has escalated the price of real estate (purchases and rentals) to the point that many young people cannot afford to either buy or rent.

As an astrologer, I predicted this trend of Uranus moving through this sign many years ago, along with its associated problems – like massive hacking into major platforms and systems due to the absence of adequate cyber security. Jupiter going through this sign expands and amplifies these themes and issues. Recently a young American computing specialist in the Air National Guard was arrested for leaking top security information, and the fallout from this is continuing to escalate. We already know that China and Russia have been hacking American databases and creating “dark” sites with political implications.

I also foresaw “wild rides” in real estate inflation and investment banking, along with widening the gaps between the very rich and the rest of the population. Recently, regional banks (especially in California) have failed. Homelessness is the most widespread it has been in US history, including the last time Uranus was in Taurus in the 1930s. The FED raising interest rates to combat inflation has made it even more difficult for new home buyers to get into this market. This move has brought nationwide prices in homes down slightly in recent months. However, we need to look back at recent history when wealthy investors bought huge amounts of real estate following the 2008 crash on Wall Street and hiked up prices, including rentals, which are the highest in history. An entire generation of young people are in serious debt due to their college loans, since tuition has skyrocketed over the past two decades as these loans expanded. We are a nation economically glued together by massive amounts of debt.

Consequences of the unregulated worldwide web:

There have been terrible consequences as the internet, social media and dark sites have been the place young people go for their social connections and information not subjected to verification or critical thinking. With workplace society reduced, leading to a lack of in-person friendships and social contact, our institutions being threatened with destruction, and websites consisting of extreme anti-government radicalization –all these trends are leading to psychological illnesses and, arguably, mass shootings, suicides, social isolation, and even an increase in alcoholism and drug addiction. With our collective eyeballs glued to screens, we can expect the worst. The media is filled with programs, books and articles warning us about the consequences of AI (Artificial Intelligence) now open for public use. Even after all this, many people think this is the greatest “invention” in the history of human civilization. We now know that China and Russia have created a massive hack network of spying and disinformation that has stimulated hatred and polarization in American society. Without effective systems of cyber security in place, we can only imagine what this will bring.

The AI implementation may also result in the elimination of millions of jobs and entire swaths of the economy. Economists have often filled the talk shows with spin about how new jobs will be created. Nobody, so far, has specifically explained how this will happen. It is time to regulate this monster for constructive use only. However, political conservatives are “allergic” to any sort of government regulation coming into capital markets. Saturn’s transit through Pisces, which will sextile Uranus in late March – April of 2025 lends hope that some of these issues may be addressed and that something will actually get done.

The sign of Taurus is symbolic of the earth itself — the land on which we all live. Recently, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and climate catastrophes have burned, flooded, and destroyed swaths of land, homes, buildings, and whole towns across our nation. Many thousands of acres of land in nations throughout the world are becoming uninhabitable. Uranus is known for its “wild swings” and sudden movements. Needless to say, Uranus in Taurus is not an easy sign for people on this planet to navigate. We have a terrible war in Ukraine in which most of the infrastructure – buildings and lands – have been destroyed. The last time Uranus was in Taurus, WWII began in Europe. Uranus is currently square (in conflict with) Pluto (power) in the chart of Vladimir Putin who has destroyed entire cities and infrastructures in Ukraine. This would suggest his absolute power in Russia is weakening. However, Russians have been subject to the absolute control of tsars and dictators for centuries. It is unlikely the general population will effectively move Putin out of power. If he is weakened, it will likely be within his own conclave.

What next?

The current transit of Jupiter in Taurus is an interesting component in this ongoing saga. Jupiter, in general, is a planet of optimism, expansion, and global travel, and is a risk-taker. He will sextile Saturn (structure) in June of 2023 and Feb. of 2024. This would suggest a balance between wild speculation and sensible discipline in the ongoing conflicts between the financial “right” and financial “left”. Retrograde Mercury, in Taurus this month, goes direct May 14th and is sextile (favorable aspect) Saturn in Pisces, suggesting some sensible economic policies being suggested and progress made in solving the US budget crisis.

This month’s Lunar Eclipse at 14 degrees Scorpio is a wide conjunction with Uranus, in a Sabian Degree described as “A poolside poker game is perfectly ordinary until someone starts ‘ reading the cards’ for the other players.” There may be some powerful people who “foresee” an unexpected future in the game of global finance. All this suggests a “bottom” in the stock market this month and an ensuing optimism and rises in the market in the second half of this month. This also suggests some serious weather and/or tectonic event adding to all the other catastrophic weather events we have been observing recently.

Recently, the Jupiter in Aries (war) transit until May 16th (has been in this sign since May 10, 2022) has stimulated our having to face mass shootings and gun violence here in the US. Sudan is now in a civil war between its army and a para-military group. This presents another terrible war in Africa for mineral resources, currently involving Russia and Saudi Arabia, similar in nature to the civil war in Yemen. There have been escalating border wars and civil conflicts in Israel whose borders and security are being threatened by Uranus transiting Taurus in its natal chart. Israeli citizens are demonstrating against the extreme “right” coalition headed by Prime Minister Netanyahu. They are getting more attacks along their borders originating from multiple nations. Things may improve in June when Jupiter is sextile Saturn. Jupiter’s transit into Taurus on the 17th lends a tone of optimism as it moves to sextile Saturn the week of June 18th.

Infrastructure repairs and new construction involving highways, bridges, dams, and waterways, access to the internet, including efforts to bring back manufacturing to the US will visibly expand across the country. Environmental organizations with plans for sustainable energy will make themselves heard with plans to make them work financially. I am of the opinion, as stated above, that until we have nuclear fusion, other efforts will be minimal by comparison. Solar architecture and all forms of sustainable building construction will begin to be implemented.

During the second half of this month into June, the concern about an interest rate-induced recession will likely diminish. Jupiter (expansion) will sextile (harmonize) Saturn (stability) in June which is a “Goldilocks” configuration. There may be solutions to homelessness that are likely to be proposed in municipal governments in cities, as opposed to large federal government financing, since Washington is somewhat paralyzed and polarized. There is also the suggestion that some type of peace agreement may be engineered between Russia and Ukraine.

The recent Supreme Court decision to allow the abortion pill to be sold and distributed, temporarily, signifies a movement toward the implementation of women’s reproductive rights that have been threatened since Roe was abolished by the Court. The emergence of an extreme right-wing cult version of Christianity trying to control the government would remind us of what life is like in Iran today when a woman was murdered by the state for losing her hijab. However, the majority in the US is firmly against abortion restrictions. Two laws outlawing abortion, one in Nebraska and one in So. Carolina lost in their legislature.

Pres. Biden announced he will run again in April under a retrograde Mercury in Taurus. It is clear he did not consult an astrologer!

Jupiter will conjunct Uranus in April 2024 and will sextile Neptune in May 2024. These configurations lend hope that some real solutions to these seemingly overwhelming problems may reveal themselves to us.

Science and technology:

On April 14th an article in “Biology News was posted from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. They report: “A high-throughput single-cell single mitochondrial genome sequencing technology known as MiGseq has provided new insights into mutations of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and offers a platform for assessing MtDNA editing strategies and genetic diagnosis of embryos prior to their implantation.” As Pluto is beginning its transit in Aquarius, it is possible that bio-genetic engineering will rapidly move forward in eliminating many diseases present in human genes prior to birth.

Also on April 14, there was a post on “Neuroscience” on News.com from Brown University. They report: “A new study shows how a drug made from a natural compound used in traditional Chinese medicine works against malignant brain tumors in mice, creating a promising avenue of research for glioblastoma treatment.” They go on to report “In the study, published in Cell Reports Magazine, researchers showed how a formulation of the compound called “indirubin” improved the survival of mice with malignant brain tumors.” This terrible brain cancer is widely known to have caused the deaths of Senator Ted Kennedy, Senator John McCain, and President Biden’s son, Beau Biden. Our family lost a dear friend about two years ago to this dreaded disease. Let us hope this study will produce a meaningful treatment for this currently fatal illness.

It was announced in April that a MRNA “personalized” cancer vaccine has been developed; first for melanoma patients and possibly for breast cancer and lung cancer patients. This would be used for people already diagnosed, using the mRNA vaccine for their particular cancer which would “teach” the immune system to rid the body specifically of the cancer cells. This is one of the most hopeful developments in our attempt to rid humanity of this most dreaded disease.

Germany announced last month that it has closed the last of its nuclear fission plants. This will, unfortunately, lead to their increased use of coal and gas. There is a new movement in the US to bring back nuclear fission plants. The development of nuclear fusion can’t come fast enough.

Final Thoughts:

Jupiter’s transit in Taurus would remind us that the planet Earth is all we have. There is no other place, currently, for us to live. The massively destructive greenhouse gasses, deadly chemicals, garbage dumps, plastic pollution, millions of square miles blown up or cemented over, vital waterways diminished or severely polluted, deadly nuclear leaks, and legal use of chemicals that kills pollinators – are all on us — only on us. The blowback on plant, animal, and human health is unprecedented and is of such a huge size it is actually immeasurable.

Human civilization as an historic whole, is guilty of human commodification. We think we are so “enlightened” today but we also know that human trafficking is still an enormous industry. Humans abusing and killing other humans all over the planet is still going on. Most people on our planet live in subsistence poverty with their land owned by a billionaire class who finance a sociopath ruling class in so-called “developing nations. It is a tragic irony that rich countries are complicit so that they may control their mineral resources. Meanwhile, most of these most vulnerable nations are either being enveloped by the ocean or converted into deserts. Climate change is the elephant in every board room. Things are so overwhelming, at this point, we are in danger of being blanketed in “cognitive dissonance.”

Knowing all this, many of my readers ask me why I hold out even a shred of hope that we will escape a probable and even arguably deserved fate of mass extinction. My reply is one word: evolution. The nearly miraculous process of biological, social, and spiritual evolution – a breakthrough in consciousness – an expanded collective genius in the sciences – a recognition that respect for life on earth and an all-embracing love for one another can actually happen. The greatest philosophers, spiritual leaders, and humanitarians have, through the ages, all agreed. Are you on board?

Stay tuned!

The Great Transit of Pluto in Aquarius

March 24 – June 10, 2023;
 January 21 – September 1, 2024;
 Nov. 20 – March 9, 2043;
 Sept. 1, 2043 – January 20, 2044.

Pluto transits through all the signs every 240 years.

Unless you have been hiding in an underground cave or residing in an imaginary “bubble”, you must be aware that humanity is moving into a profound set of crossroads within the context of its history. We have considered ourselves as the most intelligent species, the most dominant animal, and the most effective predator, and have created advanced technologies that are capable of wiping out all life on earth or transforming ourselves into an advanced caretaker species that would preserve and enhance the experience of living here for many eons to come.

Pluto in Aquarius presents us with our “last chance” to halt the coming possible collapse of the world as we know it or get on board with our now manifesting destiny to possibly save it. This will require a massive “shift in consciousness” similar to another time of Pluto in Aquarius when Astronomer, Nicolaus Copernicus announced his observation that the Earth revolves around the Sun (1543) and was punished severely by the Roman Catholic Church who had as much political power in those times as the monarchies. This was a revolutionary paradigm shift that most people of that era could not grasp and it was left to future generations to embrace.

The more recent expressions of this transit of Pluto in Aquarius in the late 1700s, presented the American Revolution, the French Revolution, and the Scientific/Industrial Revolution — moving societies away from the rule of monarchs and bringing forth the notion of Democracy; the “rule of the people”. This movement proposed that wealth could be more widely earned and distributed, away from the absolute control of the traditional ruling elites. Just prior to Pluto’s movement into Aquarius, in 1774, astronomer William Herschel discovered the planet we now call Uranus, which has been assigned as the “ruler” of Aquarius. This time frame moved us away from ancient superstitions that previously defined notions of “reality”, into a time of scientific experimentation (Benjamin Franklin’s discovery of electricity) and was historically referred to as the Age of Enlightenment. Interestingly, at the end of this age, Mary Shelly wrote and published “Frankenstein”, the famous novel that suggested dire warnings of experimenting with technologies that may “dehumanize” human life. During the ensuing centuries, this tale has become an Aquarius “myth” presented in multiple science fiction novels about the dangers of brilliant technologies in the hands of humans who have not psychologically, socially, or spiritually advanced to peacefully and wisely handle their own inventions.

Many modern astrologers suggest that the sign of Aquarius could be most effectively symbolized by the legend of Prometheus, who generously gave the first great discovery – the “gift of fire” to the human race. He was severely punished by the Gods for doing this. They firmly pronounced that humans were incapable of handling this great knowledge. Throughout time, this has been the looming question: Can we handle this? Can we handle nuclear energy, aviation, the advent of computer technology and the internet, alternative views of time and space as presented by quantum physics, journeys into space, and the congruent abilities for nations to “spy” or wage war on each other, bio-genetic engineering and “Crisper” technologies, among many other things? We have already shown that we did not handle well the massive burning of fossil fuels for energy that began in the Industrial Revolution, the invention and mass production of chemicals, plastics materials, giant global banking, and corporate organizations that would manage and control our wealth, poison our food and water, addict us to narcotics, destroy massive quantities of fertile land for mining, and funnel money into the hands and accounts of the politically controlling super-rich — all in the name of profits at all cost. Were the Gods right after all?

This year Pluto enters the first degree of Aquarius, described in Martin Goldsmith’s “The Zodiac by Degrees” as: “A traveler comes upon an ancient temple in the desert, part of it fallen into ruin and part of it adapted for modern use.” Although the sign of Aquarius is frequently described as a “maverick”, an eccentric genius, an inventor of groundbreaking technology, and a political leader rushing us into an entirely different future – this first degree would suggest building something on the foundation of the “ancient temple.” It would point to the fact that history’s teachings and traditions cannot be ignored – that we need to sort out what has worked from what has “fallen into ruin” – that our past must be understood in order not to repeat its serious mistakes. Interestingly, the recent winner of the Pritzker Prize, the highest international award in architecture, was David Chipperfield, who promotes saving land masses by building fewer new structures and, instead, renovating and restoring older buildings, making them sustainable and energy efficient and helping to solve the housing crisis.

The ideal of Democracy cannot be implemented without a well-educated society whose citizens are capable of critical thinking and civilized discourse. We need to debate without threatening to burn down the government and, continue to supply assault weapons used to shoot people in schools and shopping malls. It cannot survive in an environment of perpetual hate, book burning, and marginalizing people whose race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation is different than their own. However, the “core” ethical codes of the previous great religions must be embraced as moral foundations for humans respecting one another and working together for the greater good.

Pluto in Aquarius and the rise of China:

At this point in time, we all know that China is making its bid to become the most powerful nation on earth, challenging the global dominance that the US has held since the end of WWII. Pluto in Aquarius will be going over the Moon and Ascendant of China between now and 2026 suggesting both consolidations and challenges to power in this nation.

Amid the US accusing China of hacking and spying through TicToc and other internet platforms, which they deny, they flagrantly sent the infamous spy balloon over Canada and the US. Information was released that the COVID Pandemic virus was likely released from a Chinese lab in Wuhan, which they deny. This area is still disputed. More significantly, Xi Jinping had the “clout” to negotiate a peace deal between old enemies Iran and Saudi Arabia who are now pledged to promote Chinese interests in the oil-rich Middle East, waving a red flag in the face of the US. They have also been exploiting resources in Africa, competing with the West in dominance here. Israel, our biggest ally in the Middle East, is in a near civil war in the region which the US has failed to mitigate. China is buying oil and gas from Russia, signaling the strength of their alliance, as the US and NATO are supplying the Ukrainians with weapons in the devastating war with Russia. They compete with the US possessing the largest military force in the world. Xi Jinping recently met with Putin in Russia, signaling both their enormous power and influence, and suggesting they might “negotiate” a peace settlement for the war in Ukraine. In a serious response to all this, The Biden administration recently announced a US, UK, and Australian Nuclear Submarine Accord in the Pacific region.

While most of us were looking the other way, Chinese companies have bought Smithfield Foods (the largest meat producer in the US), AMC (the movie chain), and Triple H Coal Company in Jackson, Tennessee, among many other formerly owned American companies. They currently have 90% of the world’s rare earth (necessary for most of our modern technologies), produce 11 times more steel than the US, and are the leading manufacturer of goods in the entire world.

What Next?

In the time period between 2025 and 2026, Neptune will enter Aries and Uranus will enter Gemini, all making supportive aspects with Pluto in Aquarius. Rarely, has such a pattern been seen in the heavens and suggests the emergence of new technologies in medicine, space travel, and AI, and we will likely solve the fossil fuel-produced climate crisis by finally successfully producing energy through nuclear fusion. It could also present more effective means of governance that would usher us into a more hopeful future. All of this hinges on whether or not we have learned from the past – that these breakthroughs will not come about as a result of a world war – that Democracy will effectively take hold, replacing the current plethora of military dictatorships and malignant tyrants — that we will share solutions to problems that threaten every human on this planet – that truly — we can handle the “Promethean gift of fire.”

The Economy – Complexity meets confusion:

The failure of The Silicon Valley Bank (the second biggest bank failure in US history), Signature Bank, and Credit Suisse– plus many smaller regional banks threatening to go down, is only part of the story of Saturn (reality) passing through Pisces (fantasy). There is a multitude of reasons for this. Following the crash and recession of 2008, meaningful banking regulations were not sufficiently put into place. Dodd-Frank was better than nothing but has its limitations. In 2018, during the Trump administration, these regulations were softened for smaller banks and bank executives made bad decisions. The recent increases in interest rates are only part of the problem. Bad investment decisions were concentrated in some troubled tech stocks, affecting the stock markets and a multitude of Wall Street hedge funds. Then there was the massive lending of banks, especially in the tech sector, who have enabled corporations to “buy back” their own stock, fueling a huge debt bubble. There has been a serious involvement of financial institutions in cryptocurrency, a huge Ponzi scheme. On a smaller scale, many people are withdrawing deposits from their local banks as inflation leaves them with less money to save. The Feds keep raising interest rates because it is the only tool they have to fight inflation. They will either pull back or suspend raising rates in the midst of this crisis.

The Biden Administration has assured the public that all their deposits are insured although their stocks are not. This bailed out Signature Bank and The Silicon Valley Bank. The Swiss bailed out Credit Suisse by having UBS buy them out. We are all grateful for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Jupiter (expansion) is currently traveling through Aries (war) fueling the enormous investments in weapons for the war in Ukraine. Mar in Cancer this month through May 20th suggests more tribal wars and mass shootings. When Jupiter goes into Taurus in May, I see a bottom in this declining economy, and somewhat of a recovery in June when Jupiter is sextile Saturn. These placements also suggest a deal being proposed for an end to the Ukrainian War.

Mercury goes retrograde this month until May 14, which would warn us to postpone critical decisions until it goes direct. On May 5th, Venus is square Neptune (very bearish) and Jupiter is square Pluto May 17 – 20. All this needs to clear out before markets and the economy begin to recover. Big disputes over raising the government debt ceiling are looming and will be unlikely to settle until between May and June when direct Mercury in Taurus is sextile Saturn and Jupiter in Taurus is sextile Saturn… Interestingly, Pfizer has paid out $43 billion to buy Seagen, Inc. a company that has developed a vaccine for Cancer. This development may be part of the sweeping breakthroughs in medicine I see ahead as Pluto transits Aquarius.

Real Estate:

Jupiter’s coming transit in Taurus from May 17, 2023 – May 25, 2024, will shift our attention to real estate, including farmland. Climate catastrophes throughout the globe are threatening our food supply. The US is still leading the world in farmland, although severe droughts and floods in California and rising ocean water in Florida are diminishing these locations’ farming viability. Many people are unaware that giant investment funds Black Rock and Vanguard arguably own so much farmland, they effectively control the food supply in the US. In addition, Billionaire Bill Gates has been buying up US farmland for decades. My take is that the area around the Great Lakes in the US and Canada will become very valuable since the Great Lakes are the largest inland supply of fresh water in the world. As the globe heats up, the farmland in these areas will become more productive.

Technology:

Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley recently bought a $6 trillion call on AI. AI Chat Box revolutionizes information access in ways we have never before experienced. However, once again, we have few if any regulations in place to control the misuse of all this in the cyber world. When the internet was introduced to the public in the early 1990s, we had no cyber security in place nor did we anticipate “dark sites” that would allow our enemies to influence elections, social media that would fuel teen suicides, the promotion of massive lies, and armed revolutions. AI could replace young students having to write term papers, calculate, and critically thinking in general. As all this goes down, we could ultimately have a population of citizens that can hardly read, write or do the math on their own. Again, we need to seriously anticipate what the consequences could be.

In a special April edition of Scientific American, there is an article entitled The Phenomics Revolution”. They suggest: “Science is poised to shift the focus of health care to well care – the prediction and prevention of disease rather than just treating the sick.” As an astrologer, I would agree that breakthroughs will be made in this area. However, fast food chains selling really unhealthy food to people throughout our nation have produced a level of obesity that is so serious, it is leading to epidemics of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cancer, among other things. These foods are frequently loaded with addictive refined sugar and saturated fat leading to massive weight gain.
The antibiotics and hormones in the meat chains are destroying gut flora, the now recognized major key to health and fitness. “Feminizing” chemicals in our water systems are now being recognized as lowering fertility and birth rates dramatically. Until we decide to seriously “regulate” these industries, no matter what kind of research is released, we will continue to suffer declines in our health.

Recently a “habitable” planet designated as WOLF 1069 has been discovered that orbits in its solar system’s habitable zone.

It was recently reported in The Journal Nature that “The US–Japan team hails H2-boon plasma fusion breakthrough,” They report: “California-based TAE Technologies working with Japan’s National Institute for Fusion Science have completed first tests of a hydrogen-boron fuel cycle in magnetically confined plasma which could generate cleaner, lower cost energy than that produced by the more common deuterium-tritium (D-T) fusion process.”

Posted in Science Alert, March 23, 2023, it was reported: “Physicists have manipulated “Quantum Light” for the first time in a huge breakthrough. They report “We are working with quantum entangled atoms and it is more challenging to achieve the same thing with light.”

Final Thoughts:

I have been writing about this time frame and its implications for many years in my books and newsletters. We have finished a 12,000-year cycle, the Mayan 5200-year cycle, and the most famous – 2100-year cycle leading us from the Pisces Age into the Aquarius Age. The fall of empires and the devastating effects of climate catastrophes have characterized these cycles and we are certainly witnessing these serious trends now. The question looms not only about our survival as a species, but how we will survive. The old saying: If we do not understand history, we are doomed to repeat it” resonates loud and clear.

We would all agree that we need leaders who not only possess intelligence, scientific knowledge, and a comprehension of global economics but people who are sincerely dedicated to the greater good. Right now, we do not even know who owns us – our money, our land, our technology, our intellectual capital. American oligarchs, investment banks, monopolies, and Chinese corporations seem to have “cleaned up” most of our wealth. No matter who gets elected to government positions, their power is limited as their positions are “financed” by all of the above. I believe we can change all this – but only if we know what is going on.

All this requires a “leap” in consciousness – leadership with wisdom and a commitment to the kind of change we need to make in the world – an evolutionary change of a such magnitude that it will constitute a “miracle”. I happen to believe in miracles!

Stay tuned!

Saturn Enters Pisces
March 7, 2023 – Feb. 13, 2026

Pluto First Enters Aquarius
March 24 – June 10
(It will go back and forth from Capricorn to Aquarius until Nov. 20, 2024)

The End Times
New Beginnings

This most important time in our history of life on earth marks the end of an age in human history that has led us exactly to where we are now. It is a time of gestation and formation in the “waters of life” that will result in the birth of the embryo of the new age to come. We have no idea whatsoever what the child of this new era will look like.

The old formats for our lives are disappearing – governments, institutions, religions, countries, and continents, are being swept away in the floods, storms, droughts, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and a kind of insanity gathering in the minds of men and women consumed in fear and hysteria — because they often no longer know who they are or to whom they can turn to for guidance and assurance. Since they cannot depend upon the outside, they either crumble and give up or – look deeply within themselves – sense a greater reality, and something just beginning to form – a new miracle of life. Once this discovery is made, peace descends. We only need to take care of ourselves and allow the process to take place, knowing that birth will take place that may exceed all our expectations. We are compelled to believe in miracles!

Global Tectonics and Climate Change:

We have already witnessed extreme expressions of climate change, as record-breaking high temperatures and severe droughts have arrived in the Global South, accompanied by severe and more frequent hurricanes in the coastal areas. The Polar Vortex has been pushed south as temperatures have risen at the North Pole, pushing cold and moisture south, which accounts for the severe Winter in the Northeast we have recently experienced. It has been recently reported – “A sudden stratospheric warming is coming, collapsing the Polar Vortex and potentially the weather into early Spring.” The massive earthquake in Syria and Turkey (the worst in 200 years) has cost over 40,000 lives and counting. In March, Mars is square Neptune that is conjunct Mercury between March 10 – 16th, signaling severe storms, flooding, and tectonic instabilities.

In the years to come, coastal cities all over the world will be flooded and dry hot regions will turn into deserts, becoming uninhabitable. In my opinion, we will have nuclear fusion ready to go in various sites throughout the world and will end the Age of Fossil Fuel. This will be a great breakthrough but will come too late for many nations.

When Saturn conjuncts Neptune at the last and critical degree of Pisces in January 2026, it is likely that a serious natural event such as a tsunami/earthquake will mark a turning point in history as to how we respond to global environmental crises. Pisces is a sign that presides over liquids – water, oil, chemicals – all of which will have to be managed, conserved, cleaned up, and even eliminated from use, as all life on our planet faces extinction.

At this time, we are watching mass migrations of literally millions of people who can no longer live in their nations of origin because they are either under water, or turned into deserts. Often their governments have collapsed into corruption and violence. Haiti may qualify as the worst of these nations as they have been hit by multiple earthquakes and storms over the past decade and its government and economy have violently collapsed.

Humanity as a Species:

Humans are composed of Hobbits, Heroes, Geniuses, and Deranged Violent Killers. If an alien from another galaxy came to visit us, he would be hard-pressed to describe us to her relatives back home. We seem programmed, at times, to self-destruct and at other times to literally save the world. The ancient symbol for Gemini, the sign of the twins, contains legends and stories about brother against brother – Cain killing Abel, the “good twin and the bad twin”, leading to competition for resources – leading to tribal wars leading to world wars.

The “Lucifer Principle” as described by biologist and author Howard Blume highlights a need in nature for a dominant (Alpha) leader (usually male) present among animals and humans that “leads the pack” to hunt its dinner and defend itself against being another pack’s dinner. It seems as if this ancient system is leading to our over-consumption, greed, and willingness to kill each other. It has led to 20th and 21st-century dictators possessing weapons of mass destruction and threatening all life on earth. Somehow, the process of evolution in humans has often subsumed the need for critical thinking, cooperation, and sharing of power and resources. Russia’s attack and invasion of Ukraine revisit the willingness to destroy the lives of millions in a power and resource grab.

Another serious problem for human civilizations is the proneness to join destructive and dangerous “cults” (Saturn rules structure and Neptune rules “faith”). Born out of personal failures, despair, and a loss of a cultural connection to society, family, and friends, disillusioned people will often look to submit to and worship a religious leader who frequently takes them down the path to suicide. This pathway often leads to “hate crimes” we have witnessed far too often. The Jim Jones cult that committed mass suicide in Guyana, the Branch Davidians that went down in Waco, Texas, and the Heaven’s Gate group who committed mass suicide to join a UFO all come to mind. The latter two rose and fell during the last transit of Saturn in Pisces (1993-1996). The current transit of Neptune in Pisces (Feb. 2012 – Nov. 2025) highlights the current movement of extreme “right-wing” Protestantism into the wings of the US government mandating new anti-birth control and anti-abortion rights — extreme violent Islamism throughout the Middle East — Prime Minister Bodi in India declaring India to be an entirely Hindu state — and Israel declaring itself to be an entirely Jewish nation.

Pisces is a sign that craves spiritual enlightenment, elevated consciousness, emotional clarity, and peace. It also is a sign of “addiction” that craves the “high” at all costs, even at the expense of its own life. Addiction to drugs, alcohol, and even social media seems to lead many down the path to suicide. The leading cause of death in people ages 18 to 45 is overdosing. Just this year alone, 100,000 people have died in this way!

As terrible as all this is, it is a wake-up call to all of us who sincerely wish to change this tide, join the “fish” in the sign of Pisces that swims upward toward the light; support the artists, musicians, compassionate leaders, geniuses whose spirit and insights may contain the seeds of our salvation. Pisces suggests humanity has the possibility of experiencing the greatest ideas through its transcendence through space and time to a greater reality that may be awaiting us in the eternal “now.”

The War:
Dejavu all over again?

Since the end of WW11, the US built up an enormous “military-industrial complex”, initiated the “Cold War” against the spread of global Communism (primarily Russia and China) resulting in a build-up of nuclear weapons of mass destruction, and built the greatest economy in the world. We now recognize that we tragically involved ourselves in the Korean War resulting in the creation of No. and So Korea, with serious hostilities to this day, overstepped our boundaries in the tragic Vietnam War and interfered in civil wars in South America and the Middle East. It all culminated in our invasion of Iraq creating a war that was shown to have nothing to do with the 9/11 terror attack (which was executed by Osama bin Laden, a rogue Saudi) and initiated the destruction of the “balance of power” in the region. Americans are now aware of these disastrous foreign policy decisions leading to military involvement.

In so many words, we are, again, facing an invasion in Europe — the War in Ukraine – invaded by Russia’s Putin, arguably similar to Germany’s Hitler invasion of most of the European nations in WW11. China is an “ally” of Russia, they want to take back Taiwan which we are committed to protecting, and it has recently been revealed they are sending weapons to Russia. We must remember that we only got into the war when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. All great wars are started in order to invade and control resources, mainly farmland, oil, gas, minerals, and rare earths. The ruthless sociopaths and dictators of the 20th Century headed up these nations. We must remember that democracy failed in Germany when the Nazis took control. Americans, like in the 1930s are wary of involvement in another war in Europe. Some people believe that if we had stopped Hitler early on, we might have prevented the war. This is the interpretation and resultant policy of the Biden Administration. Putin recently announced he is now backing out of the decades-long arms control nuclear pact with the US.

The transit of Uranus has returned to its position where it was June 1934 – May 1942. We won WW11 while Uranus transited Gemini (June 1942 – June 1949). History rhymes! The array of powerful slow moving planets on the horizon point to massive changes. Science and technology can move us into a great era of human civilization or enable us to build weapons that will destroy human life on earth. Uranus in Gemini is in our natal horoscope of the American Revolution (July 4, 1776), transited Gemini during the Civil War, and, as shown above, was in Gemini in WW11. Pluto is entering Aquarius this year and Neptune will enter Aries in April 2025. We now have weapons of even more massively destructive capabilities and the US, Russia, and China have multiple satellites orbiting the earth. Pluto in Aquarius will highlight movements to institute and conserve Democracy, as this transit was there when the US won the Revolutionary War and the French Revolution abolished their monarchy. It will move over the ascendant of the chart of China, motivating the Chinese, who have benefited from Western democracies, to overthrow its own government. The present government may get into a world war in order to divert the attention of its population away from this movement.

Saturn in Pisces will sextile Jupiter in June this year may give us a way to make a deal to end this war. Pres. Biden’s chart shows struggles with his health. Pres. Franklin Roosevelt had serious problems with his health during WW11, resulting in his death before the war ended. History rhymes again.

Humanity’s fate rests in its hands. Will it be extinction or evolution?

The Economy:

March 12 through March 24 as Mars finishes its transit in Gemini, square Neptune, and inconjunct Pluto, there will be serious uncertainties as to where stocks are going to land and just what federal policies will be. Instead of an outright recession, we may be in an economy that is in the “misty flats.” Questions will be raised as to the “insanity” of Bitcoin and there may be an effort by the government to regulate it. The insatiable greed of large corporations to make money on the internet at all costs is leading us to a path of regulation that should have been there in the first place. The Chinese have been “hacking” our sites and stealing data for years (remember the hacking of Equifax and Marriott) and we are now quite familiar with Russia’s creating “dark sites” to influence politics in the US. Cybersecurity should be at the forefront.

Social media is now being credited with seriously hurting the psyches of our young people and addicting them to their cell phones. Information will come out this month that may lead to laws and regulations limiting and protecting commerce and usage of the internet. The last week of March contains a tone of optimism for markets as Mercury transits Jupiter and is semi-sextile Uranus. Between now and June, the expensive housing market and ideas about creating “affordable” housing will be explored.

Science & Technology:

In the February Issue of Scientific American, an article was published entitled “The AI Biologist” by Tanya Lewis. We are all in awe of the potential of AI, but too often are unaware of what it may or may not do for us, other than storing massive amounts of data and winning games of chess. One of the biggest problems in medical diagnosis is “figuring out a protein’s structure, or solving the “protein folding problem”. The article goes on to report: “But last year, an artificial intelligence program called Alpha-Fold, developed by the Alphabet-owned company DeepMind, predicted the 3-D structures of almost every known protein – about 200 million in all.” This article is worth reading in its entirety as this breakthrough opens the door for applications that range from expanding our understanding of basic molecular biology to accelerating drug development.

Another interesting article in this same issue is entitled “Life as we don’t know it” by author Sara Scoles. It explores how life on other planets could express itself differently than what we know about life on earth. “Scientists are abandoning conventional thinking to search for extraterrestrial creatures that bear little resemblance to Earthlings.” As we hope to explore other planets as the future dawns, it will be interesting what we find. Interestingly, recently we have discovered another solar system with a possibly habitable planet named WOLF 1069 that orbits its solar system’s “habitable zone.”

NVIDIA has announced its AI system is complete. This is the biggest jump in progress since the advent of PCs and the Internet. AI will eliminate calling stations and hundreds of thousands of jobs serviced by human labor. Pluto in Aquarius points to enormous advancement. As usual, we will have to adjust to a change of this magnitude.

Jimmy Carter

Former President, Jimmy Carter, at age 98 years, is now at the end of his journey here on earth. A Libra, he is one of the great humanitarians, noted for global peacemaking, fair and safe voting, and economic equality of opportunity. For most of his life, he was a supporter of Habitat for Humanity by working with his own hands, and, as President, was way ahead of his time in promoting alternatives to fossil fuel energy, solar panels, and windmills in the 1970s during the energy crisis. In my opinion, he stands out as a human being for his sincere belief in equal rights and respect for all races, women’s rights, and the highest aspirations of Christianity – the principles of love and forgiveness which he taught in Sunday School every week for most
of his life in Plains, Georgia where he lived most of his life. We will all feel his loss.

Final Thoughts:

As we begin to experience, once again, the transit of Saturn in Pisces, we could be well served to explore the sign of Pisces within ourselves – the beautiful, spiritual, musical soul forever searching for itself. The words that most describe the experiences with this sign are – journeyer, explorer, wanderer, and searcher for enlightenment. Being the most sensitive and empathetic of all the signs, Pisces is capable of kindness and understanding and, at the same time, must protect itself from feelings of being overwhelmed or drowned by the “ocean of troubles” that follows humanity everywhere.

Society likes to “define” us by our current professions or carefully formatted direction. The wise Pisces knows better. The sign of the Fish is always moving with the waves and waters of life – one upward into brilliant light, and the other down into the realms of sadness and despair. Some “escape” into drugs, searching for that “high” that eventually leads to seeming nothingness. Others are endlessly curious as they read, paint, dance, write, and pray – always knowing that openness to all things leads to many experiences that could not have even been imagined before.

Pisces knows “the secret” that all things are possible – that even after so-called death, existence never ends – that we will be very different tomorrow than we are today. We could all do well to pay attention to the siren song of Pisces as we navigate through these challenging, mysterious, and ever-changing times.
